vitamin D and TTC
Anyone know if a Vitamin D deficiency has anything to do with TTC. My vitamin d level came back low on my annual physical. It was 20, normal is between 30 and 100. Has anyone heard of anything?

Yes this happened to me. My vitamin D was always fine until I started taking Prenatals. Apparently prenatal vitamins are low in vitamin D. So for now I take woman's one a day from Bayer and eventually I will take extra folic acid and DHA.

Vitamin D deficiency is actually fairly common. Vitamin D is produced by your body when you're exposed to the sun. You can also get it through milk, fish and vitamins.
Many drs don't test for this deficiency so people never know they have low levels, but again, it's fairly common and easily fixed.

Re: vitamin D and TTC
my D # was 19.8 dr gave me RX for it (12
weeks 1x a week). Each RX is 4 pills..not
sure why they couldnt give me all 12 (must
be to make $$) anyway I finished 4 weeks
and & will be spending 10-15 min outside
WITHOUT sunblock. I also take prenats and
daily vitamin.
Not sure if its linked to TTC but if it helps
then yayy!

yes!!! my level was 20 and my dr. gave me the same prescription, but when i told him I was TTC and asked if such high doses of vitamin D would be safe just in case I do get pregnant during the 12 weeks, he told me not to take it then and said i should just take 2000 units a day for now. Did you mention TTC when you were given the prescription?? If it's safe, i'd like to take it to get my levels up, but now i'm just not sure.

No I did'nt. I was at Dr originally for heart paps...took blood to check my thyroids and it came up low. Everything else is perfect but that. Yesterday was my 4th pill (50,000 IU whatever that means???) and Im not taking it anymore, sun is out more and Im taking multi & prenatals. So it was not a reg check up. My heart paps are gone. Im going to look up if vitamin D affects TTC (too lil or too much)

OK. I googled too, but didn't find much. Let me know if you come accross something I might have missed. And here's some baby dust for you all! Good luck!!

Re: vitamin D and TTC
My gyn did full bloodwork on me to test for infertility issues and he felt my Vit D levels were too low so he prescribed 50,000 units once a week, which I will take for 12 weeks.
Vit D is essential in the production of estrogen and insulin in the body. It also has an effect on the lining of your uterus. If you have low levels of Vit D your uterus may not develop a sufficient lining to hold an embryo.

Really, I didn't know that. I think I'll start taking the 50,000 units tomorrow and check with my gyno at my next appointment on the 24th just to be sure. Thanks!
