Getting a diagnosis and informing the school?
We have seen 2 dr's and both have agreed that my boy's have adhd - inattentive type. The second Dr, has said that she will be sending me a report and it will have something in there that they should get speech services. The school has told me that one of my son's does not need it, when they were evaluated in the beginning of the year and my second son is receiving speech once a week, but it is informal for 10 weeks.
Who do I contact when I get this? Will the school have to do their own testing and evaluations? Would this be something I even deal with now? Or do I wait until the beginning of school in September?
Thanks for any advise you can give me.

Re: Getting a diagnosis and informing the school?
I would contact the school now so they have time to evaluate and set up the meeting before school starts in September. That way you'll be ready to go when the new year starts.
Does the doctor report indicate exactly why they need speech? If they were evaluated already and weren't given services I'm not sure if they would give it just on the doc's recommendation, not sure though. I do know that speech services at school age is hard to get unless it is impacting their school day.
I would also consider if they need any testing accommodations, such as extra time, or needs to sit in front of class, and have that written into your 504 plan.
Good luck!

Re: Getting a diagnosis and informing the school?
They were never formally evaluated, it was more a screening, from what I think the teachers told me. The Dr feels that they have immature speech which is causing problems with them answering questions in class and being vocal.
I am assuming I should wait to get the reposrt before contacting the school? Or should I do it now in anticpation of the letter?
Who would I contact?

Re: Getting a diagnosis and informing the school?
Check you school website for your CSE chair and contact them to ask for a speech eval. If you can't find it, just call the school office and they should be able to direct you. I would call now for the eval and just make sure you have the letter from the doctor before you have your meeting. Most likely it will be a month or more before you have your meeting as it takes time for scheduling and preforming the eval and then scheduling the meeting date.
If they give you a hard time about giving the speech eval, just keep pushing them. They have to by law (i'm almost positive) give an eval if you request it.
Good luck!
