well I think the bottom dropped out. She found out her hubs was talking to a woman and sounds like he was cheating, then they were in talks of divorce. that can rock someone greatly, even a more balanced person.
Well they must have resolved that part because there were some TTC efforts going on last summer (under yet another moniker on here). Again, fabulous decision making, band-aid babies ROCK.
That's more like a gauze pad baby!

nrthshoregirl-----she admitted she was having all sorts of problems--months before this whole thing. i am attributing them to having caused THIS PARTICULAR SET OF CRIMINAL ALLEGATIONS. but it was she herself who pointed to these things as being stressors and points of worry in her own day to day life.

I have to say though... Its very interesting to see your point of view. Whether or not people AGREE with you, you've been gracious and accepting that we/they don't. Not pulling an ol' UR JUST JELIS comment...
A lot of us have said "I noticed a HUGE change in her after she had her daughter..."
some people can accept that and move on, and others feel more sensitive to the issue and hope they throw the book at her.
Some could feel sorry for her, others think "its been how many years, you have the resources to get help and you don't, so I don't feel bad for you..."
It will be interesting to know how this all turns out.

But it wasn't insignificant at the time - it was memorable because people were GENUINELY concerned about her well-being. And the backlash including private FMs she sent to people were outrageous. FWIW, she never really left the site after that meltdown, she changed names and created a new account too.
yeah that's the thing... there were WAY MORE than just those 2 posts... Many were pulled... Then people were accused of stuff... There was a while when it would be "the snickers show". people even reached out to her...

Also, I don't know if I'm buying into the whole 'she didn't know what she was about to do was wrong' theory, it was the drugs, depression, etc... If you go back and read an old post of hers from 2010... pasted on page 9 of this thread... She clearly put another teacher on blast for DWI/drug charges and for posting inappropriate things on her myspace, calling her stupid for doing it... goes into the whole good teacher vs. bad teacher argument... then, she goes on to say that it's hard being a teacher these days because while she's expected to know technology, she's not able to join in on the fun (of the internet, etc.) because of the "outdated" image that a teacher should uphold... I guess to snickers, "outdated" teachers are ones that don't sleep with their students??
So in her own post that she wrote in her own words, she knew keeping marijuana on school grounds, friending students on fb and showing them pics of you in your underwear, and the inevitable sleeping with students was wrong.

Oh I meant how many people on this SITE do that... not just teachers (but I can imagine you're right b/c hey teachers are people too and sometimes they don't use the best judgment, even though they are EXPECTED to more than the regular person.

I could be wrong, but I kind of agree with the other poster who said she could use two hands to grab at resourcers for help, but chose not to. (Her DH is an attorney, she's a teacher, good salaries/health benefits there... plus all the help/referrals she could've gotten on LIF alone!).. So, I'm hesitant to think that she "tried and tried" to remedy her situation and what she was going through, and it just didn't work... only because of how defensive she was on here. I mean, she has no problems talking to students about intimate problems that, at least IMO, have absolutely no business being discussed with CHILDREN! Yet, she comes on here and acts the fool, alienating herself from anyone that could've really helped her. All jokes/cattiness aside, the women on this site really bend over backwards to help other members. I haven't been here long, but it's evident. (Especially with how kind and generous everyone was to Janet)... If she'd asked for help (and probably even if she didn't) people would've bombarded her with ways to help. She CHOSE to push people away. She CHOSE to believe everyone was against her. I still remember that one kooky post of hers she made in the middle of the night that sounded like she'd been abducted by aliens... and how everyone (people who knew her for years at that point, both from LIF and LIW, had weddings/babies at the same time, probably some get-togethers even... so I guess you can consider them *friends*) reached out to her in concern... and she blew up on all of them! Yet, she has no problem confiding in children? What do children know about marriage/babies/PPD? People eventually just got tired of her antics. Sad.

Erin is NOT the only teacher I know personally and have had intimate (not sexual) conversations with, nor is she the only teacher at Madison accused of sexual wrong-doing that I know quite personally and have contact with to this day. Much of the post-partum depression talks took place well after I graduated from HS and could no longer be considered her student. We spoke about drug use privately back in 2005-2006 but more about my own drug use as opposed to hers---although she did let a few things slip. I wouldn't consider such discussion inappropriate, however---many students discuss certain subjects with their favorite teachers off the record and it's naive to think they wouldn't. And as I've already said, I was sort of wise beyond my years and I could relate/identify with several of these young women, seeing as they were only in their late 20's at the time. Only after we reconnected in 2009 did I become aware of her present, continued use of prescription pills and her naive understanding of their dangers. Keith Hernandez is absolutely right, MC---you'd be shocked as to just how much teachers will divulge secretly to students they either like, trust, or identify with. This pasts week's allegations are certainly over the top and inappropriate----my own personal relationship with her--i dont know if i'd say its inappropriate, but would definitely agree that it was at least a little unusual---but it wasnt the first and it wasnt the last.

I agree with you, even if you're kind of slamming on me as a 'dumb kid' in the process. We didn't JUST talk about pregnancy, lol---we spoke about Ernest Hemingway, the Beastie Boys, Jack Kerouac, Type 0 Negative, and a whole other range of topics and ideas that most kids my age weren't really into in 2006---Lil Wayne was just getting popular, lol....but thats neither here nor there...i totally agree that she didn't take advantage of the opportunities/support systems she had open to her....there are many, many people far worse off than a married English teacher living in Park Slope making 80,000 a year with a practicing attorney for a husband----and that holier than thou attitude she developed towards the end certainly didnt encourage any type of growth, lol
