Going Rates for Babysitters?
Curious what the current rates are for babysitters?
DD is an only child.
How much do you think I should offer for babysitting?
How much do you think I should offer for a mother's helper to come to the town pool with us, hang out with us for an afternoon and then play with her in the kiddie pool while I swim laps for about 1/2 hour?

I think it depends on age, experience, if
they drive and age of the child.

Re: Going Rates for Babysitters?
My college age babysitter charges $8 an hour, but we tip her really well. My niece is 13- 14 this summer and will sometimes babysit during the day for a few hours and we pay her $5 an hour.

Re: Going Rates for Babysitters?
We paid the daycare teachers $10.00 an hour in our home but most girls on care.com and sittercity were asking for 15+!!

Re: Going Rates for Babysitters?
I pay $10 per hour. I pay the same if she has both kids, just one, or if I'm home and she's just helping out. I use the same person as a helper/sitter. If she's not available I use one of her friends. I pay them all the same. Most of the time I give them a little extra...I'm so happy to have people I can trust.

DD is almost 7 and DS is 4 1/2 and i pay my babysitter $10 per hour...when they were younger i paid a little more because they were in diapers. i had a mothers helper and paid her around $8 an hour but then gave an extra $5 as a "tip"

Re: Going Rates for Babysitters?
I think it depends on a lot of things. My babysitter charges me $10 for THREE kids!
