Just really getting fed up with names
It is becoming a loathing task: Isabella - supposed to be so popular. I like Bella, Izzy not crazy about for nicknames. Pretty sounding .. I like Bella for short ( we call our son Robbie - FN Robert)
Olivia - classic, too popular? Flows with our last name as well.
Elizabeth - ahh the safe .. I could not settle on anything else and you will never really be known by that name but possibly one of 7 other nicknames.
Rebecca - I really like Becca as a nickname and on the fence crazy Becky. It is also a little dated bit so is Grace and I hear of babies with names like that and it is on the classic list so how dated could be? The first two go fabulous with our last name but she will not have last name forever. I feel miserable now. I have searched and searched for others that DS and I could consider but can find anymore. I like classic/ normal names .

Just really getting fed up with names
I'm partial to Elizabeth since that's one of my choices if I ever have a girl. The 2 Elizabeths I know IRL are known as Liz so I'm not sure what 7 other nicknames you are referring to.
Honestly, don't kill yourself over it. When your DD is born you will know what to name her
Me personally I would either choose Elizabeth or sophia. But you and DH have to make the decision, not us. Good luck!

Re: Just really getting fed up with names
Personally I would not choose a name based on the nickname. Example, if you like Sophia, but nickname Sophie. If that is the case, name her Sophie. DS has an unusual name and everyone always asks us what we call him and we tell everyone that we call him by his name. And people respect that. Try not to go by popularity/nicknames. It can become way too stressful that way, just narrow it down to names that you and your DH like and eventually the right name will some to you.

Just really getting fed up with names
Dd is Isabella. We picked it not realizing the popularity of it 2 yrs ago. Right after she was born the list came out and it was #1. At first I was like great especially being a teacher but you joke what? We don't know any other Isabella's irl. Weird I know. I get oh my granddaughter is or niece or nephew. But nobody in our circle. We loved the name and that was that. We go by every nickname out there. Bella, izzy, baby, Isabella, monkey, crazy, little girl, itzy, etc and she answers to them all and we don't ha e any issues.
Go with what YOU love. We actually had 2 boy and 2 girls names. We had a front runner each but as soon as I saw her I said no she's an Isabella, not an ( sorry don't want to post). And I dont regret it at all. I can't imagine her as the other name

It is becoming a loathing task: Isabella - supposed to be so popular. I like Bella, Izzy not crazy about for nicknames.
Sophia - again ... another popular name but nicknames are fine - Sophie - maybe Spohie's choice the movie which is depressing.
Elizabeth - ahh the safe .. I could not settle on anything else and you will never really be known by that name but possibly one of 7 other nicknames.
Rebecca - I like Becca as a nickname but not crazy about Becky. Also a little dated. The first two go fabulous with our last name but she will not have last name forever. I feel miserable now. Beautiful names! I always liked Julia..Melissa...and Jessica...they have cute nicknames and are classic......those are the names I thought about until they saw a penis on my sonogram!! lol Good luck..
Edited to say....I didn't officially name DS till the day after he was born..I swore I was going to name him one thing, and then once he came I totally changed my mind! lol

Re: Just really getting fed up with names
Seriously don't get stressed about it. Having 4 possible names is way better than having zero. Sounds like you like isabella you could just tentatively choose that but don't make it official then decide in the hospital. I like them all by the way

I feel like our are leaning towards Isabella since you have mentioned it first in all of your posts. They are all beautiful names and whichever you choose will fit our DDperfectly.

Just really getting fed up with names
My sister's name is Elizabeth - my mom HATED the name Liz so growing up she was either Elizabeth or Beth.. we never called her Liz so no one else did either.. and when she was very young if someone called her Liz she wouldn't even respond which gave my mom the opportunity to say "We only call her Elizabeth or Beth". Now that she's older some of her friends call her Liz but my mom has since gotten over it.
If you want a name and aren't fond of the nickname, just don't use it! Everyone will eventually catch on ;)
All of those names are beautiful names and you will definitely be able to pick one when you see her.. don't stress!

ITA with this.
RELAX!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously. Stop stressing over names. I know that's much easier said than done, but I feel like this is causing you so much anxiety based on your posts.
You have some beautiful choices. You can't go wrong with any of them.
Everything falls into place.
It really does.
I promise.

Re: Just really getting fed up with names
Don't let nicknames get in the way
I know a couple of Sophia's/Sofia's and non are Sophie.
My son is Thomas, we do not like Tom or tommy.. Most people respect that and call him his name. Yes occasionally we will get nicknames, but it isn't the end of the world and it's usually strangers that do this. When he gets older he will decide if he likes the nicknames.
Even my DH is James and some people insist on calli g him Jim or Jimmy, he just let's it slide. (this is never anyone close to him).
With every name there will be this issue, just choose a name you love!

Just try to look at it this way, it's not the last minute it's waiting to meet her.
I didn't even know if I was having a boy or girl. We had one boys name, but several girls names. We had hesitations on some in regards to nicknames, but overall like you, we liked them all. We had a daughter after she was born we both just knew. We gave it a full 24 hours to really make it official, but honestly, felt no pressure.
You have great choices! It's not as if you are going in there with no ideas. You'll figure it out, don't stress!

My Elisabeth is called Ellie so there is your 7th!
People will call your child what you call her. No one calls her Liz (I hate Liz) everyone calls her Ellie.

I'm just worried about the pressure of waiting until that last minute to decide.
I didn't know what were having for my last DD. We didn't even begin to start picking out a girl's first name until a Thrusday night at my last OB appt before my C-section (which was scheduled Monday morning).
My water broke Friday morning and we didn't pick a middle name til about 30 mins before walking into the operating room
... this all means you have time!! lol
And Honestly I have seen all your posts about naming your baby....this should not be so stressful, if you are stressing this much over these names...these names might not be the right choice for you. It should be fairly easy.
And like someone above said, I wouldn't go by nicknames...my first was named Alison...we figured would would call her Ali...which we do...but she prefers everyone to call her Alison
My second daughter, we named her Kristen, with intentions of called her Krissy...nope was always call her Kristen.
Good Luck picking a name

Re: Just really getting fed up with names
You sound like me when we were picking out boy names. I like a few but didnt want people calling him certain nick names. We were gonna do Drew instead of Andrew cause we didnt like Andy. We love the name James but not Jamie or Jimmy as a nickname. We ended up with Alex, dont lie Alexander and there is no way to really nickname him anything but AJ for his initials. If you like the name Bella why not just go with that?

IMO, you should wait until the last minute to decide because once you meet her, I can promise you a name will fall right into place!

Re: Just really getting fed up with names
they are all beautiful names! I think my favorite is Elizabeth because like you said it is so classic and there are a ton of nick names! Some other ideas...
Natalie (my DD...I think it's a pretty classic name :) ) Mallory Catherine or Caitlin /Katelyn...Kate...Katie Samantha...Sam/Sammie Audrey Victoria Lillian
There are a ton more that I like, but I picked these for you because I felt like they had the same "vibe" as your other choices! Good luck!

Re: Just really getting fed up with names
i agree... STOP STRESSING!!! you have 4 VERY pretty, solid, nice names. There's no harm in waiting to meet her to pick one of them. I honestly think that the name will fall into place once you meet her... and everything will be fine. I'm a little partial to Rebecca/Becca- my friend has the most adotable little girl with that name and its not as popular/trendy as Sophia or Isabella. BUT you can't go wrong with any of those 4

This...we played with a few names, but the second Emily(Emmy) was born we knew. She was born not breathing and the 1st words out of my mouth were go be with Emily. We just knew.
I like all the names you suggest, and I also feel like you that I don't like to popular of a name. I know Emily is popular, but it's not such a "fad" name. What about Isabelle? I know you like Isabella, but with a son named Robert, IMHO, you have a tween dream going on.

Just really getting fed up with names
I'm Elizabeth. Everyone but my family calls me Liz because that's what 'I', as a teenager and adult, wanted everyone to call me. No one has ever called me Beth, Betsy (my dad would sometimes say it when I was very young but very rarely), Libby (?), Betty, Liza, or Ellie. I sometimes refer to myself as Lizzie but only with DH when I'm trying to be cute.
I knew another Elizabeth and she did not, and still does not, want to be referred to as anything but Elizabeth.
My point is, you can give her any name you want. Once she's old enough, she's either going to use her full first name, or use a nickname. But you can always call her what you want.
