Calling all mom's who have kids who wear glasses!
Did you see an opthalmologist or an optomatrist? DD just had her 5 year old check up at the pediatrician at scored 20/30 on her vision, so they wanted me to get her vision checked further.

We went to an optical place (don't remember which one). The doctor there was actually the E/R chief of opthamology at a hospital (I believe he is retired now which is why he does this). He is very good with testing absolutely everything and is very thorough. And our insurance covers most of it too.

Hi, We use Dr. Cassari too. Did you use the shop within his office to get your child's glasses? Although they seem to have a large selection, the man in there seems so mean and rude to the children which makes zero sense to me. If not there, where did you purchase your child's glasses?
Thank you.

We used Dr. Cossari as well and won't be going back. Not the nicest man and I let them know it. Her first pair of glasses last year we used the shop connected to them. The man was ok but I think they were very expensive. This year I took the prescription and when to Lens Crafters. Much better experience.

Pediatric Ophthalmologist we use Dr Marmor. I took her script to BJ's and got a great deal. They are actually running a deal till 7/24 where kids glasses are 39.99 and that includes insurance on them

Re: Calling all mom's who have kids who wear glasses!
I would probably want to see an ophthalmologist, especially for the first visit. FYI, the Commack Jewelry Exchange has an eyewear vendor who has great prices on designer eyewear and he has a huge selection of kids eyewear. You have to bring your Rx but he is great. If you have a specific frame style in mind, ask him b/c he has more than what is in his display case. I recently bought myself eyewear from him & noticed all the kids frames. My lenses came out just right & I am picky about having the prescription, measurements and fitting done just right.

Interesting! I can never imagine though trusting that this vendor in a flea market is reputable and trained, but definitely interesting!!

He's a dispenser, no eye exams. They all need to be certified and it seems that he has been doing this for a while. To me he seems great at fitting the frames. I often go back a few times to adjust the fit but he got them right the first time. I worked in the eyewear industry years ago and he seems to know what he is talking about. I bought a pair of Coach eyeglasses before I knew of him and he told me what he would have charged and it was a huge savings. He did not know how much I spent. I now have 2 different prescriptions, computer and distance so I buy twice as many pairs of eyeglasses. I get reimbursed for part of the payment on the first pair but the whole thing was getting costly and I didn't want to go to an internet vendor. We stopped into there to see a friend who has a jewelry business there & I noticed the eyewear sign so I struck up a conversation with the eyewear guy b/c I once worked in that field. Now I am his customer.
