Returning to work

I'm going back to work on Wednesday after being home with DD for 16 weeks. DD is starting day care later then planned as my husband is currently on strike. This makes the transition easier but I'm starting to get upset about leaving her. I know I have to go back to work and I know it will be somewhat better eventually but it sucks... I know I'm not the only one who ever had to go through this, just venting. Chat Icon

Re: Returning to work

Its def rough going back to work. The guilt is overwhelming but once you get into a routine itll get better. Bring tons of pics to put on your desk and make sure DH sends you pics all day so you dont feel like youre missing out. Chat Icon

Returning to work

hi i just returned to work 3 weeks ago after 11 wwk maternity leave with my twins. the best way for me was getting them into day care 1-2 days before you return to work. this lets them and you transition to the day care, and also allows you to feel comfortable nad check on them on the days that you have them there before you return to work. i find that yes- its hard- but its also good to be back at work - i miss my friends here and i enjoy getting dressed, eating a peaceful lunch and having adult interaction. by thet ime i pick them up, im giddy with excitement to see them and my patience with them is definitely higher. good luck! youll be fine...

Re: Returning to work

I had to leave my DS at daycare when he was 14 weeks. The first few days were rough but don't worry it will get better. And I even started to like working again because I had my adult interaction time etc. I promise it will be ok!! And then the baby gets used to it and enjoys being around their little friends.

Returning to work

I left DS at daycare at 8 weeks. I think I was luck though cause DH drops him off and I do the pick up so it wasn't as hard.

I love beign back at work. I need the adult interaction and think that the time I spend with DS is so great since I make the most of every minute.

Re: Returning to work

Leaving DD at day care was one of the worst feelings ever. I dreaded it the week before....cried my eyes out the night before and for the first two days. Then, when I saw everything was OK and was confident in my day care provider, it got much better! You will get through this! At first you'll feel guilty, but then you realize you're going to work and doing what you do FOR your baby, and he/she will realize that when they are older.

Hang in there! Chat Icon

Returning to work

Ugh it's so rough when you first go back. I've been back almost 2 weeks and it's getting better. I still dread Monday morning when I have to leave my baby all over again but we really do make the most of the weekends now and treasure our time together. You'll get into a routine and it won't be so bad. Good luck!

Thanks girls, I'm confident one minute and crying the next. Doesn't help that I just got AF for the first time!

Re: Returning to work

Its definitely tough. My DS was still in the NICU when I had to go back to work. He came home a week later after I return to work. It was so tough on me, but I felt better knowing my dad was watching him. I onl had to go back for about a month and a half and now 'm off for the summer. Its going to be harder on me to leave him now bc he has such a personality now and I love spending time with him all day. You will get used to it. It will definitely be hard in the beginning but bring pictures of your DD with you so you can look at her when you need too and just think it will be great when you get home and get to see that little face!
