open house first birthday
Hi all, long time lurker first time poster here.
We are planning on having my daughter's first birthday at home in our backyard. We have a pretty big family so I am a little concerned about space. I was thinking that an open house party could be a solution to stagger things but wasn't sure how that would go over-I certainly don't want to give the impression that we don't want everyone to come and stay as long as they would like! It may limit who is there for the cake, etc., but I know that close friends and family would stay for it. A non-open house party would work too, it just may be a little bit tight.
Opinions/advice on the open house idea would be greatly appreciated!

I'd think alot of close family and friends would stay the whole time.... .... would probably just be easier to limit the guest list in the first place so you could more accurately plan the food.

open house may be hectic...ppl come for lunch or dinner it could get crazy with food. I think limit the guest list.

Re: open house first birthday
I'm a fan of timed parties start time and end. You'll get a lot of declines too and I think it'll work out. Easy lunch, lots of chips, etc around to feed everyone and then cake. Most people leave right after cake and you done have to worry about being all over the place. When and who will show up st what time. I like some organization. Makes it easier. Go around being a good host then have it all cleaned so just close fam can stick around for leftovers and to help clean up. So it's tight most people find space and stay there or move in then outside.
