Upgrading Certification

TEACH online is so confusing. I have my initial certification and have fulfilled all the requirements to upgrade to professional or provisional (not even sure which one I am supposed to get next)

Does anyone know the steps to do this? I tried going on TEACH but I hate that site LOL.

Can anyone help please?

Re: Upgrading Certification

HI,

I went from initial to professional last year. I went online and filled out a new application, then submitted my documents. Took almost a year.

What documents do you have? I did my mentor hours but it was all online through mylearningplan. Should I be getting something from my district in writing?

Upgrading Certification

Your district needs to send a letter to the state to verify your mentoring.

What I did was I applied online and then you will be given a list of what you are deficient in - make sure you print a copy of this - you only get it once. I requested all the necessary documents (transcripts, mentoring forms, etc) and mailed them in together. About a month later, my status changed on the teach website. A few weeks later I called since nothing changed and I wanted to be done with it. You can call the state, but it is a PITA. It will seem like you can not get through, but you just need to stay on the line and eventually you will get through.

Another option is when you apply on the website you can have BOCES process it and they are a lot more helpful.

Print out the mylearningplan certificate and send it to the state.
