NYC doe teachers health insurance
I am trying to fill out my health insurance forms and I'm very confused. Right now it's just me and DH. We are going to be starting treatment for infertility soon. I have no clue what to pick. Some of the plans are $0 but the prescription is separate. Someone had mentioned to me UFT may cover some prescriptions.
Any help would be really appreciated. We have insurance through DH that only costs us a 100 a month but we have a higher deductible. That insurance gives us 20,000 for infertility.
Thanks!

UFT def covers perscription.
Health insurance is free but you choose to get a high rider. I did- its only maybe 7 dollars. To me its worth it because I have a thyroid condition and go to the doctor a lot. I also just had a baby and there was really nothing out of pocket except a small hospital bill. I chose GHI with the rider.

I would post this on the infertility board too, if you haven't already. You may find a city teacher with info about prescriptions. I had HIP when I was with the DOE and it was great- nothing out of pocket at all though I know most teachers use GHI. Also, I am sure there is a hotline for the welfare fund, which handles drug coverage- they may have the info for you. Good luck!

GHI is the way to go! I don't even have the rider. In 8 years, I have never had a problem!

I agree- we have had all good experiences with GHI. BUT if you have infertility issues, although GHI covers 75%, it is still leaving you with something like a $7500 bill for IVF, plus some meds... I suggest to check on the infertility board for more insight. Good luck!
