loosing teeth
How old was your DC when they lost their first tooth? How much is the going rate for a first tooth? How much is it for other teeth? DS had his dentist appointment and the dentist said that kids loose their first tooth between 5-6. I think I was 6 when I lost my first tooth. My DH thought he was 5. In Time magazine they listed the current amounts for teeth and I was a little shocked.

Re: loosing teeth
DD lost her first tooth right before she turned 5. For the first tooth, she got $5 and it has been $1 per tooth after that.

Re: loosing teeth
My son was 6 and 4 months when his first tooth came out.
We don't give money for teeth. My son writes a letter to the tooth fairy and puts it under his pillow with the tooth (all in a ziplock bag :)) and the tooth fairy brings him a toy in return (something small, for $3-$5) and leaves a nice note for him as well, thanking him for the tooth and his note.

Re: loosing teeth
DS hasnt lost any teeth yet (he is 5 today) and I loved that my parents (oops... I mean the tooth fairy LOL) gave me a "different" kind of coin for my teeth like a Susan B Anthony or a half dollar coin so I have been collecting some of these for DS.

Re: loosing teeth
My DS had just turned 6.
My DD was 5, almost 6 when she lost her bottom 2. Right after she turned 6 (end of Kindergarten), she lost all 4 of her top teeth in about 4 days! So at 6-1/4, she's lost 6 already.
Oh, and $5 for 1st tooth and $1 after.

Re: loosing teeth
DD was 2 months shy of turning 5 when she lost her first tooth, DS was about 5.5 years old when he did.
In our house the tooth fairy brings a gold coin for the first tooth - a Sacagawea dollar
They have little wooden tooth fairy boxes that go under their pillow so they get stuff that fit in them for other teeth like a Lego man or a charm.

Re: loosing teeth
My oldest DD just lost her first two bottom teeth this summer--and she'll be 7 tomorrow! She didn't get her 1st tooth until 12/13 mos, so I was prepared to wait a while for her to start losing them. She got $5 for the first and will get $1 for the subsequent ones.
My younger DD is 5 + 4 mos and still hasn't lost any. She began getting teeth at 7 mos, so I'm thinking she'll lose them earlier than her sister.

loosing teeth
DD was just over 6 (I forget exactly when) She received $5 for her first tooth and $1-$2 for all other teeth after ($2 if it was a "tough" tooth, $1 for "regular" teeth)

Re: loosing teeth
My son was a late teether (first tooth at almost 14 mos) but so far not too bad at loosing teeth. He lost his 1st tooth at 6.5. We have done $5 per tooth. I have heard much higher and think that is nuts!!!! I even think $5 is a lot but it is what we did.

Re: loosing teeth
One son lost his first tooth at 6 1/2. They are 7 now and his twin has not lost any teeth yet. My kids grind their teeth though so the dentist said that they tend to come out later then for kids that don't.
We gave $5 for the 1st one and then $2 for the second. My other son got 4 quarters since he was being patient waiting for his to come out.
