Eating during 1st Tri
So the nausea has finally kicked in and all I want are bagels, crackers and cheese. I am super concerned that i won't be eating the right things for the baby but I am also afraid I will be gaining weight faster than the doctors want. Any tips or experience with this?

I had the same issue. Honestly eat whatever you can manage and worry about it later. Trust me I never eat bagels and I ate them a lot my entire pregnancy and I have not gained a ton of weight.

As long as you're taking prenatals and staying hydrated, the baby will get all the nutrition he/she needs. If you start throwing up and becoming dehydrated, you'll have to discuss other options with the doctor. But a few weeks of massive carbs and following your cravings isn't going to hurt anyone -- in fact, it'll make you a much happier person.

THIS; i never actually got sick; but I had terrible nausea up until week 15-16. I lived on bagels; toast; crackers. Anything that was a carb was my friend! I gained 10lbs by my 16 week appointment! But my OB didn't seem to be concered! I'd rather eat the carbs or whatever helps with the nausea than worry about the weight gain.

That's pretty much all I eat right now at 8 weeks as well. I'm taking prenatals, so hopefully the baby is getting what it neeeds.

yep. i was soo dehydrated and not eating or taking my prenatals. my doctor said that my babies could technically survive if all i did was drink water the rest of my pregnancy. dont stress it (like i did lol)!

Eat what you can! It's better to eat something than nothing at all. I ate mostly carbs my 1st trimester and I did gain about 10lbs before I really should have. But honestly, I would have never been able to eat otherwise. You do what you have to do. The baby will be worse off if you don't eat!

Re: Eating during 1st Tri
All I could stomach during my first tri was carbs and fruit. I felt like I was going to gain a ton of weight, but I actually lost 5 pounds. Remember that your body is working harder so it needs more calories than before you were pregnant. Also, try to keep up some kind of exercise regimine to balance out all the carbs.
And don't worry about getting the right nutrients. Your baby is getting what it needs and you'll have plenty of time to eat right when your ms has passed. Just keep taking your prenatals.

Its ok just do what you can. My dr. recommended putting some all natural peanut butter on whole crackers or bread. I am using whole wheat. It may help. She also put me on Be Calm perinatal.

All I could handle was Gingerale and crackers, literally for weeks. My dr wasn't concerned.
In the very begining the baby is getting its nutrition from the yolk sac anyway. She said eat what you can

This!
and your body will gain what it needs to in order to maintain a healthy pregnancy, don't worry about the weight, you can take care of that once the baby arrives.

Re: Eating during 1st Tri
coming from someone who was yelled at constantly to maintain i certain weight i completely understand your worry.
What is most important right now is to make sure you are eating. Bottom line. Then once the nausea and all those things slow down you can foccus more on what you are eating!
Good luck!
