EBF - pumping at work - output amt...

With my newest little guy, I've been able to successfully BF him. His older brother and sister did not BF well, and I only pumped for about 3 weeks with them.

SO, I'm back to work in two weeks and I'll be pumping. Just curious to see how often you pump at work AND how much you end up bringing home. My freezer stash is at about 120 ounces right now (about 8 days worth based on his feedings now). I don't even know if I'm in good shape or not with that supply. What do ya think?

That's a great supply to have. I never had more than 40 ounces in the freezer. I pumped three times a day. Once as soon as I got to work, once at lunch an once before I went home but I work long days and I commute. You might be able to get away with twice a day. I also nursed in te morning before work and I nursed when I got home.

I'm going back to work next week and probably have about 250 oz in the freezer. I only pump once per day after the first morning feeding. I seem to have a pretty good supply even better than with DS1. I wanted to go back with a good freezer stash b/c last time I know my supply really went downhill around 9 months. I struggled to make it to 1 year, but was able to do so b/c of my freezer stash. I also now have a job where I'm on the road a lot and will not be able to pump at the same time every day. I know that may end up affecting my supply.

I think what you have is great. Try to pump as often as he's eating. I'd also continue to pump at least once per day on the weekends just in case you're not able to keep up with how much he's eating. Good luck!

I pump every 3 hours at work even though babies are eating every 4 hours. Most days I make just enough for the next day and sometimes I will have an ounce or two extra. I probably have 80 or so ounces in my freezer.
