In the panty: pasta, rice, beans (red, white, and black), chicken and beef stock, a variety of bread crumbs, canned tomatoes (crushed, pureed, diced, sauce, and paste), peanut butter, cornbread mix, taco seasoning, onions, DD coffee beans and tomatoes.

In the fridge: salsa, hot sauce, blue cheese and ranch dressings, garlic, carrots, lemons, lots of cheese, half and half, butter, sour cream, yogurt.

My freezer is usually stocked with homemade meals that I vacuum seal. Other than that, corn, peas, shelled soybeans, rolls, tortillas, and usually some type of uncooked meat.

We don't regularly stock anything except milk, iced tea, and spices. I really like to buy only what I know we'll need and eat.

I'm the same way, I go to the store every day to pick up what we need for that night's dinner & lunch for the following day. I found I actually end up saving money this way lol.

But we do have things like pasta, quinoa, sauce, tuna fish, pb & j, milk, eggs, cheese, bread and 100 calorie snack packs on hand usually at all times. I stock up when they're on sale, and only buy them again when we are running out and they are on sale.

You aren't a weirdo! LOL

I work full time and we have 2 kids.. so going to the store daily doesn't work for us. I also make breakfast, lunches and dinners nearly every day. All the things I stock up on are things that our family does need CONSISTENTLY.

I might not make rice THIS week.. but I know if I buy it in bulk while it's on sale that I WILL use it before it is anywhere near bad. KWIM? As to perishables.. we go through 4 gallons of milk a week, a minimum of a dozen eggs, everyone in the house eats at least 2 pieces of fruit a day and the boys and Rob go through yogurt like you wouldn't believe. Veggies disappear rapidly in our house.

It's definitely NOT weird to have a smaller or emptier pantry. It's all lifestyle.. single people or married couples with no kids or those that don't entertain or people who go out to eat a lot are absolutely going to have less on hand. It would be more odd if they did have as much on hand as a person who cooks a lot or has a large family!

same with us. i decide what we are going to eat that day and dh stops at the supermarket on his way home from work since he literally walks past it from the train. that way we dont buy too much because we tend to plan ahead and then never make the food which we end up wasting.

but we always have pasta, sauce for dh (dont tell my mom lol), quinoa, milk, yogurt, bread and cheese on hand.
