Daycare / Nanny options - Moms of 3 or more
For those of you with 3 or more kids who are in daycare or you have a nanny / au-pair, can you please share your situation with me? I am due in May with twins and my DS will be 4 next summer. He has attended the same daycare since he was 3 months old. We asked about pricing for both DS and the twins and it was way more than we can afford. I can either leave DS there for one more year and then he will be in kindergarten, OR I can leave the twins there and move him out to a preschool - looking into local options. I don't think my town has the pre-k program through the public school anymore. Another option is for me to leave DS in his daycare next year and hire a nanny (not live-in) to come to our home to watch the twins. But then as soon as DS was in kindergarten I would want the twins to go to daycare (it just works better for us - I like the socialization and knowing they are in one place all day, someone is always there).
I am also going to ask about working from home 2 days a week, in which case I would only need part-time care for the twins...that would help.
If you don't mind sharing how you make it work...I would love to hear. Thanks!

I am in a similar boat with twins on the way. Thankfully my DS started Kindergarten this year. But even full day outside day care for twins is $$$$
For the first year, I plan to have someone come into the house..I am not a fan of au pair, just because my house isin't really ideal for it.
Then hoping to get a 3 day a week job (RN)..and only need day care 3 days. I too like the outside socialization etc..
Good luck, I'll be checking here for responses as well, to see what has worked for others!
Congrats to you!!!

thank you! See I should've waited another year for my DS to be in kindergarten I'm thinking that may be what we wind up doing too. I am not crazy about the idea but...$ talks.
