Horrible experience with the Place Furniture Galleries in Farmingdale

I am so beyond frustrated with this furniture company...and I don't know what to do besides write on a forum where at least other people can read about my experience.
I ordered 2 sofas on July 1st, and was told it would take 6-12 weeks to come in. They still haven't arrived! They never called me to let me know it would be later than the 12 weeks. I had to keep calling and no one would get back to me after I left many messages! Finally, only because I firmly insisted to speak to someone and not to leave a message, I got through to a person that explained to me that they are on a container that is being shipped and they wait for that container to be filled before they ship your product...so basically I have to wait for 20 weeks for 2 sofas, when they should've been here 8 weeks prior!
I am frustrated because I spent a lot and I could've gone to another furniture company and had much better customer service, and I'm sure better quality as well. I don't understand how companies like this can get away with doing this and then telling you that you are overreacting if you complain why it's 8 weeks late! Ugh...sorry, I really needed to get that off my chest since there is nothing I can do because they already have 1/2 of my money!

Ugh..I swear, I hate furniture companies.

Can you cancel the order?

Although, I guess you're closer to the 20 weeks now, so you may as well stick it out

Furniture companies suck! We need new living room furniture and I am dreading going through this again. We had a horrific experience with Rooms Unlimited and I am scared of that stress again.

I will never go to that place again! I went to get a price quote because I wanted to see if they could match or come close to a set I was ordering in NC. They would up being $1600 more. The sales guy told me he would page me when he was done speaking with the manager, he never paged me and decided to help another couple. 30 min later we walked up to him to see what was up and he was like oh we can't come close, I was like um, I think you forgot to page us, he's like no I did page you, Um I had no interest in looking at anything else in your store I would have heard the page. LIAR he just moved on because he couldn't come close, badddddd Customer Service

Your Not the only one who can't stand them! They pretty much did the same thing to me. Except after we waited the 8 week, I think it was, we called and our love seat we ordered was discontinued!!! So far bobs and the place are two stores ill never visit again. Only place I ever had a good experience at from the moment i walked in the door was Levitz and of course they are out of business.

In 2006, i wrote such a scathing review of them on complaints.com, and cc'd BBB and consumer affairs. I was seconds away from getting arrested in that store. My blood pressure just rose reading the title of your post.

ETA: your story sounds like my story, word for word. Let's just say I got my money back, but it wasn't pretty.

Sorry to hear your having so much trouble with them!

Sounds like my experience a couple years so at rooms unlimited they will promise you the world and the dates mean absolutely nothing... And then when your furniture does come, it's damaged... I threatened with bbb... I walked into the place and called them pretty much on a daily basis. I raised he'll and then made sure to post my experience on here so that others stay away... Best I could do... Had I checked them up first on better business bureau, i would have stayed VERY far away front them... Lesson learned, always always always check bbb for a company's rating...

Omg they are the worst!!! My daughter got a new bedroom set from them in March. It was expensive but beautiful! We had it 5 months before the sleigh bed literally broke! They won't do anything to fix it. They keep giving us the run around. I've never been so disgusted with a company in my life!!!

I honestly don't know how rooms unlimited is still in business..they are the worst! We call them scumbags unlimited.

See and I have had horrible experiences with other places, but I actually have had great experiences with the Place in Farmingdale. I guess it really just depends on the order.

Now FurniturelandSouth, don't get me started.

They did the same thing to us with a dining room set. We ordered it the first week of September in 09... We were supposed to have by the end of October. We never got a call from The Place saying it would be late or even offering an explanation or even a simple apology. Fast forward to Thanksgiving, we still don't have it!!! No explanation just that they didn't get it in yet. They kept blaming shipping from the Carolinas when by that point I could have WALKED to the Carolinas and back with the funiture. So at that point they PROMISED we would have the furniture the week before Christmas. This is after endless phone calls, rude sales reps and a few screaming matches. So the date they gave us in December came and went and DH called AMEX and had them reverse the charge on December 23rd. Wouldn't you know we get a call from them flipping out that we cancelled the charge. We said they won't get a dime until we get our furniture and wouldn't you believe it the entire set showed up the next day on Christmas Eve!!!

They were seriously the worst to deal with, I will NEVER set foot in that store ever again. We have bought furniture from Drexel Heritage and Raymour and Flannigan without ANY issue. The people at The Place are just horrible.

I had a really bad experience with them years ago when we bought a sofa for our apartment (before the house) and have refused to step foot in there since.

Sorry you're dealing with that Hopefully you can get your sofas soon and move on...lesson learned.
