Re: clogged tear duct?
Dont feel bad for him. It does not hurt or bother them at all. One of my girls had it and it cleared itself up on its own. Just wipe it with a damp cloth and massage the area. It took a few months for my daughters to clear up.

DD had that. The doc gave us a cream to put on and I would massage under her eye a few times a day. It will clear up.

Re: clogged tear duct?
My DS had it as well. Always woke up crusty and the puss would come out of it. The Ped said keep massaging it. I did some research and also from some girls on hear I heard to put in a couple of drops of breast milk. I know it sounds crazy, but I swear it worked. Literally a few drops and gentally rubbed it in. The next day it was done.

I was just going to suggest this-- the BM really does work that fast! But also massage and warm compress.

Re: clogged tear duct?
My 2nd DD had this until around 4 mos. My doctor said it wasn't a problem until it lasted until 9 mos. We just put pressure on the area with a warm, wet washcloth a few times a day. She never cared.

Re: clogged tear duct?
Both boys had this. With DS1, I thought he was going to need surgery because there was no sign of it disappearing. Finally, 2-3 weeks before his 1st birthday, it went away. DS2 is almost 5 months and still has one.

My doctor told me breast mill too. Worked well. Apparently it's very common.

My DS had this when he was a few months old. Keep cleaning away the drainage and massage the duct with a warm washcloth. Try a couple drops of BM-- it works!!!

Re: clogged tear duct?
DS had it for about a month! Not much you can do but wipe it clean with a warm wash cloth! I just hated when it looked so crusted over, but it doesn't bother them!

DS had it for a short while. It came and went. Our pediatrician showed me how to massage the tear duct and it improved quickly. He did prescribe an antibiotic just in case but I only wound up using it once or twice.
ETA: I cleaned his eyes with warm soaked cotton balls.

Re: clogged tear duct?
We massaged. We cleaned. We used the drops. After a few weeks, I figured "what do I have to lose?" And put breast milk in his eye.
Completely cleared up. So weird!!!!
Good luck!

clogged tear duct?
DS had this. I cleaned up his eye with a warm cloth and massaged the area and it was gone the next day. As a precaution I now massage both eyes everyday. I don't know if it will prevent it from happening again but it's worth a shot.

Breast Milk has AMAZING healing qualities. If anyone has a cut or scratch and you put BM on it, it will heal faster. It takes care of infections. protects our babies from getting sick. The human body is amazing and BM is Amazing stuff

Saw still has it and just turned 1. It comes and goes, but is worse if he has an ear infection. Our ped isn't worried yet, but BM always helped!

Re: clogged tear duct?
My DD had blepharitis. It started when her skin became oily at about 2 weeks... Just another thought...(the puss would be across the eyelashes) would be worse in the morning etc. I felt bad too when her one eye couldn't open in the morning. we used a washcloth with baby shampoo twice a day and wiped it clean. It lasted about two weeks or less. Gl
