Flying while pregnant
I swear I feel like a first timer lately. I'm presented with the opportunity of a free trip when I will be 33 weeks (34 weeks for flight home). I plan on discussing with my doctor when go back, but I really not want to miss this! I lose it if I don't take it during that specific week.
I searched online and saw that 34 weeks was the latest recommended by most airlines.
Has anyone ever flown so far into pregnancy? Did you need a letter from your dr? Did your dr. Give you a hard time about it? I never delivered early with my three kids (although they were all c/s that were scheduled about a week in advance, except for the first)

Flying while pregnant
I flew at 28 weeks; I have a friend that flew for a wedding at 36 weeks and I think just needed a note from her OB. My OB told me no flying after 36 weeks. How far will you be traveling?

Flying while pregnant
how far will you be going? will you be there with your husband or other family members? I personally wouldnt feel comfortable traveling far esp if my husband wouldnt be there with me, but every person is different.
i have a business trip at 35 weeks and my doctor told me it would be up to me if i wanted to go or not...i opted not to because DH wasnt going to be with me and it is our first...but the dr had no problem with me traveling if i felt comfortable.
talk to your doctor and then decide. If you do go, check with the airline you are flying...they all have different policies...some say no note needed, others require a note after a certain point.

Re: Flying while pregnant
I asked my OB when I could fly at my last appointment. He said that I could fly in my 2nd trimester, but to avoid flying in my 3rd.

i wouldnt take a long trip that late, more because youd likely be very uncomfortable by then.

Flying while pregnant
i flew while i was still in my first trimester, but i don't think i would fly that late in the pregnancy game. but its a very personal decision. like other posters said, if DH were to go with me, i think maybe i might do it, butknowing DH, he wouldn't take the risk and wouldn't let me fly at that point either. I think its it further than cross country, i wouldn't do it - since it sounds like you would be leaving the country (i could be totally wrong about that) i don't think i would take the chance of going into labor in a foreign country

Re: Flying while pregnant
Dh, as well as a bunch of our friends, would be with me. This is not a trip we could afford to do on our own. I'm not worried about being uncomfortable! Once we get there, it will be very relaxing. If my dr. Is ok with it, I'm going!!

Re: Flying while pregnant
I would go unless you tend to deliver early. Most airlines can not require a note from your dr and actually do not have cut off dates for pregnancy but some do. . if you happen to know the airline, you can check with them. . go with what your dr says.. make sure you get an aisle seat, drink a TON of water and walk every 30 minutes and get compression socks if they help.. I would not go without DH but with him I would still go go for it!

Re: Flying while pregnant
Your dr will almost definitely not let you leave the country in your 3rd trimester. Too many variables.

I don't think your doctor is going to "let" you leave the country that far along and I have heard some airlines won't even let you get on without a note from your doctor... I mean I don't know how they approach someone on that but the last thing they want is someone giving birth mid-flight.
I had asked my doctor about traveling, we wanted to go to Disney in early January but she said no way after 32 weeks and even if I wanted to take a car trip over 2 hours they would want to check my cervix first.

Re: Flying while pregnant
I personally wouldnt risk it and I'm a travel agent so aware of it all.. I wouldnt recommend leaving state after 32 weeks even if the doctor let you. the last thing I would want is to have contractions or complications and not be close to home where my doctor is.. especially if your goin international.. no way.. to many risks involved and if anything were to happen you would be in a shady hospital not getting the best care possible... :( BUT, if you feel comfortabel and dont for see anything happening then that is your call. good luck either way:)

Re: Flying while pregnant
I was going to add that it depends on the medical care where you are going.. like if you were to have a baby there, would you trust the medicine..
