Thrush help!
My dd is about 4 months old and it looks like she has the beginning stages of thrush again. This will be the 5th time she's had it since birth. I stopped breastfeeding her about 2 months ago b/c I thought we were just passing it back and forth to one another. I sterilize all the bottles, pacifiers, etc. all the time. I clean her mouth out at least once/day. She was on Nystatin, which didn't work and they then switched her to Difulcan. The Diflucan does clear it up but it always seems to come back. I called her dr. a little bit ago to see if we should restart the Diflucan and she said not too, that dd may need to see a specialist. Has anyone else had experience with thrush that keeps resurfacing? What was the outcome? TIA for all your help!

Re: Thrush help!
my ds has it again. I noticed it tonight while playing with him. He has had it on and off for about 2 months. he has been on 2 rounds of antibiotics as well. He initially developed it when he had a cold. Doc said it was completely normal because his immune system was so run down. We use nystatin oral, and i use it on me as well as washing my nipple with vinegar. Seemed to work. Some say you can use gentian violet- you can find it in whole food type store. Good luck. Hope little one feels better soon..

Thrush help!
My DS had it twice. The second time the ped told me to give the medicine for the two weeks as recommended plus two days after the last sign of it and it seemed to have worked - he hasn't had it since.

Re: Thrush help!
Ok this is going to sound nasty but with ds1 he had it in his mouth and his diaper region. He had discovered his penis and would not keep his hands off it (at 5 months old lol) I would wash them and try to hold his hands as I changed his diaper and treated both mouth and diaper region That's when we finally got rid of it. He had been passing it back and forth between his diaper region and mouth.

Re: Thrush help!
DS had it many times in his first year and the Nyastin never worked. I always thought he never really got rid of the thrush and when his immune system was suppressed it came out. Good news is that he grew out of it after he turned one. Hope your LO does too.

Did you treat it with Nystatin everytime he had thrush or did it just eventually go away on it's own? Her immune system has been weak the last month or so, so maybe that does play a part in it. I just feel at a loss b/c I'm doing everything I can to try and prevent it but it keeps coming back.
