My 2 year old won't nap

DS is 27 month old an he's been refusing to take naps for the past 5 months. The only time he will nap is when he falls asleep in the car. That's the only way he'll go to sleep during the day! :( My m.i.l. and mom watch him during the day while Dh and I are at work, but they are older and don't like to take him out and lift him to put him in the car seat unless they have to. Anyone have the a two year old that refuses to nap as well?

When my dd was 2, she stopped napping. My niece is 2 and doesn't nap either. I think its common for 2 year olds to drop the nap.

My son was a little before 2 before he stopped napping... It was HORRIBLE!!!! He went from napping everyday to every other day. To napping every 3-4 days... To never napping unless we were in the car... Now he is 3 and still naps only if we are in the car... I tried to lay him down in the beginning to rest, but after a couple of months, I knew that was never going to work. I gave him quiet time with no TV and just some books.. That didn't last long either.. The only good thing that came out of no napping was that he started to sleep 10-12 hours a night!

Same thing with my ds. He stopped napping I guess around 21 months. We tired everything as well to try and get him to nap in the house and so did my mom and m.i.l. and no such luck! :( Like your ds, he does sleep more than he did before come to think of it so that's good. Thanks! :)

same here.
dd (2 1/2) only naps in the car. very rarely will she fall asleep when we are home.

My DD stopped napping just before she turned 2. She would go down but then be up past 10pm if she napped.

My twins are 28 months and they are definitely done with naps. I was trying as hard as possible to keep them but they werent having it. It sucks but now I put them to bed 45 minutes earlier at least.

That is about the age when two of my DC stopped napping.

My 26 month old who has never been a great sleeper hasn't napped in 2 weeks. He was only taking an hour nap a day tops but now he refuses to sleep at all! My 3.5 year old still takes a 2 hour nap everyday, so they are all different!

Wow - I wish that my DS went that long napping. He hasn't napped since he's been about 18 months (he's 21 mos now) unless we take him the car. It's so frustrating because we know he needs his sleep because he shows all signs of being tired. Thankfully, he still sleeps almost 12 hours every night.

Same with my DS. But when he does fall asleep in the car and we bring him back inside he will sleep like 1 1/2 - 2 hours sometimes. I love when he does. Otherwise when he doesn't fall asleep in the car he will sleep 10-12 hours at night which is great too!

Thank you! :) Well we used to do the same thing, but then we tried to drive around and let him sleep for a total of 15 minutes. Anything after 15 minutes, he was out like a light lol and we could bring him inside and put him down in his crib.
