What can I wear in the hospital?
For xmas DH bought me a cute nursing lounge/pajama set. I was wondering if I'm allowed to bring it to the hospital to wear instead of their gowns after the baby is born. BTDT moms are welcome to weigh in and tell me if it's even a good idea.

You can wear whatever you want but be aware that you will be bleeding a lot so you might not want to wear nice stuff right away.

Re: What can I wear in the hospital?
I delivered at Good Sam and had to wear the gown to deliver, but after you can wear what you want. I really found that taking a shower and putting on my clothes helped me feel better/more normal. You do bleed a lot though and even though I never bled onto my clothes it is a possibility. But if he bought it for you to wear at the hospital, go for it!

Yep, this. I actually ended up just wearing hospital gowns the whole time, it was easier.

You may be more comfortable in your pajama pants/lounge set than the hospital gowns. I say go for it!

Same here, especially if you have a c-section don't think you are changing your clothes, it's very painful...

Re: What can I wear in the hospital?
I had a c-section and showered and got dressed in some comfy clothes 24 hours later. I felt so much better and more myself.

hours after I had DS#2 I was in black sweatpants and a maternity shirt. I couldn't wait to get comfy clothes on.

Re: What can I wear in the hospital?
I never had an issue with bleeding onto my clothes, although I did bring dark ones just in case. I'd probably bring them and see how your bleeding is as a pp mentioned. I wore a huge overnight pad so there wasn't really much room for things to get messy.

I wore sweatsuits for my entire stay. I actually found that wearing pants held my pads in place and it wasn't as messy. The day that I had to stay in my gown was gross and messy (sorry if TMI ).

What can I wear in the hospital?
I wore the hospital gown the first couple of days- I was bleeding way too much. I also had a c-section so I really didn't want to even move to change. I ended up changing into my own nightgown after 3 days when I could move more.

Re: What can I wear in the hospital?
I had lounge pants from Old Navy that I wore (both times). I hated the gowns. I know people will tell you that you will bleed a lot - and you will - but they give you TONS of pads to soak it all up and other than when I first got up from the delivery table I never made a mess, not once.

Re: What can I wear in the hospital?
Definitely don't wear the cute set the first day but bring it with.
I wore the hospital gown for delivery, then changed into a pretty patterned gown I bought for the first few hours really. After that, I wore pants because they held the 2 pads I was wearing up better, especially with walking around and sleeping on my side. I wore my oldest pair of undies so i could toss them afterward if needed but I didn't have an issue with leakage.
With my first, I stuck to the hospital gowns and they were too cumbersome with moving around and keeping things covered. The neck would pull down sitting on the bottom part, just a pain for me. I felt sloppy too. I think the sooner you get put together, the better you feel.

Re: What can I wear in the hospital?
I plan on wearing black yoga pants/leggings and tanks that will be east to BF in and then I have a short hooded robe to wear over the tanks... I figure if I "leak" the pants are black so it won't be as embarassing and having pants on will help keep the pads in place.
I remember visiting my mom's younger cousin after she had her baby and she just looked so uncomfortable in the hospital gown, she was always adjusting it and pulling at the neck. I think I'll probably feel better in my own clothing.

This. I showered and changed into yoga pants and nursing tank and had a light wrap sweater to throw over for when people came to visit. Those gowns skeeved me out.

Re: What can I wear in the hospital?
Like some of the other posters, I delivered at Good Sam too. I was induced so I was there a full 24 hrs b/f I delivered. I had to stay in the gown so they could do all the poking & proding that they needed to.
I delivered at 10:30pm and the next day by 11am, I was showered and in black yoga pants, tank and cardigan. I just needed to be in my own clothes. Also, Good Sam does not provide pads. They just fold up those leak pads they put on the beds. Thank goodness I brought my own real pads but if I hadn't, I def would of needed to be in yoga pants.
I would def save the nice set for when you are home and lounging.

this and if you have a c-section you may have to wear the gown for a little bit. I am not sure how long.

Re: What can I wear in the hospital?
Bring it and see how you feel. You will prob feel gross and not want to wear anything new of your own. I think I changed into my own stuff toward the end of my stay so I felt more like a human!!

Re: What can I wear in the hospital?
I wore the gown the first night because I delivered late. The next morning I showered and changed into my own clothes; black sweatpants and a nursing top. I wouldn't wear anything too light on the bottom, as others have said you bleed, a lot (regardless of natural or c-section).
