cat behavior question

So DH and I buy this fluffy bed for our cat. Yesterday he was meowing unusually and I couldn't figure out why. I already fed him and cleaned his litter box, plus we just played for 15 min. So when DH comes home, the meowing got louder as if he trying to tell us something is bothering him. DH said he smelled something funny from the cats room and sees that he urinated on the fluffy bed. I was surprised that he did that though. He does not scratch our rugs or furniture and is always a good cat. Should I be concerned now, or only if this happens consistently ? The last time he had an accident was a year ago when I brought him home from the vet that time. He went in his cat carrier. He went to the vet last month, all good. I don't think its a medical issue. I think maybe he sensed a storm coming them got nervous. I don't know. Anyone else.experience this w their cats? thanks.

cat behavior question

The bed may have had a smell that the cat doesn't like. I would wash it with hot water and if he does it again throw the bed away.

Re: cat behavior question

Lenny, my cat, will pee on anything fluffy that he steps on. Its horrible. He did this on our down comforter, so we bought an alternative down, he did it again! He has done it in our laundry basket too and on a regular comforter. I can't even tell you how many comforters and sheets we have bought and THANK GOD we had mattress covers! I asked the vet about it and had him checked to rule out any medical issues and everything came back clean.

The vet said it must be a sensation he gets on certain materials so I have just been very proactive about closing bedroom doors and providing him with bedding thats more of a quilt than a fluffy material. Also, at the recommendation of the vet, I purchased Feliway spray and will spray it on our bed and any areas I think he will decide to put his mark on. I do it a couple of times a week and it has seemed to really help. He is lucky I love him so much because there were times I wanted to kill him with this! Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be

Thanks for the answers. We removed the bed from the room and just put an extra towel in his basket. Maybe there was something on that bed that he didn't like the smell of. I was just surprised that happened knowing how much cats like soft, warm places.

cat behavior question

Hope it helps. Cats are weird sometimes you never know what will trigger them. Dirty clothes on the floor is one of the peeing triggers for one of my male cats and my girl cat if she's annoyed about something targets our bathroom mat. Both gross but we know not leave that stuff on the floor.

I see. My cat is a nervous cat & but never had a peeing accident & he does like to sleep on my leather sofa and guest bed. I try not to let him on our bed but he sneaks in sometime.
