Thank you. We have the Empire Government plan.. DS got an appointment with his GI on March 5th and she will be able to give me what I need. I left a message with our reg ped, but I haven't heard back from him yet. I will definitely give them a call tomorrow.. Thanks again!!!Chat Icon

My son is getting PROMPT and feeding therapy and Empire covers it.
It sucks that you have to go through insurance.
Good luck!!!!

What is PROMPT? We are still trying to get things going with real feeding therapy. He transferred out of EI and is starting CPSE tomorrow. We did get OT back so I am going to ask them what we can do. He started to eat banana's in November, which is a huge step for him. No gagging. But that is about all. He still eats most fresh fruits, pureed fruits/veggies, and french fries. He started to eat pancakes and waffles again too....

Re: Denied feeding therapy

i'm not a SLP or anything i'm just a mom that is having similar issues. Not sure if this will apply to you or not but you mentioned that your child had SPD have you tried oral stimulations prior to feeding? Does he have problem with chewing or is just texture issues?

Denied feeding therapy

Newleaf, Are you already getting EI? How can they deny you? I dont understand. We were approved for feeding because my son also was gagging/choking. I Have learned his issue was just behavioral & just stopped using her. I felt she told us foods to try,but never did anything for us. I also think his main issues were due to the fact DS was getting some molars..he is much better now.

He transferred over to CPSE in january. When he got evaluated in August 2011, I was hoping he would have gotten speech, OT, and feeding... He got 2 out of the three. His speech therapist tried at every meeting to get him feeding therapy. They denied it. He got some "feeding therapy" from the speech therapist to help. They can deny anything...
