BFN First IVF Round
We just got this week a negative for our first round of fresh transfer IVF. We did 3 cycles of IUI with Lethrozole last year and as nothing was happening went for IVF end of Feb. I was really hoping this would be it, with my age - 32 - and being completely healthy myself and DH has a bit of a low count so we had ICSI I was sure this would do the trick. I can't explain how devastated I felt and cried for like a day when the Dr office called and nurse told me its a negative. Just thinking of that convo still makes me cry. We did freeze 6 embryos. So as we are seeing the Dr this week I am guessing we would be going for FET. I do want to ask for a full retesting of myself before we do so. What do you think I should ask for especially? Also, anyone maybe can share their success stories or others' that had a failed fresh IVF cycle and were successful with FET right away? I am just feeling so down...

Re: BFN First IVF Round
so sorry you are going through this. I don't have the IVF experience (yet) but have just gotten a neg with IUI. Try to stay positive is all I can say. That's all we can do. You are still young. 32 isn't old!

Re: BFN First IVF Round
sorry to hear this news. I would maybe ask the Dr if he has any idea why it didn't work. I would also ask if there were any tests with borderline results. IVF stats only have a 50% success rate and besides ICSI there are other procedures they can do to increase your chances. Not sure how many embryos you transferred this time around, but since you have 6 frozen you might want to ask about transferring more? Good Luck!!!

First off I'm sorry Please don't beat yourself up about only transferring one. Sometimes even the best embryos don't implant. The great news is you have 6 frosties. That is an AWESOME number to have. I'm sure you will have success with one. There are plenty of women here who have BFP with frosties.

Re: BFN First IVF Round
Sorry that you are going through this but I am confident it WILL happen for you! I had two failed fresh cycles, one last April that was a chemical pregnancy and one again in July where the embryo stopped growing at six weeks, and am now 22 week preggo from a FET. The first and second fresh cycle we put back two embryos and used ICSI for both. For both the second fresh cycle and the frozen one they did assisted hatching to help with implantation. I was so frustrated by all of the failures of unexplained secondary infertility that we put back three embryos for our FET. Out of the three, only one took and so far so good. Infertility sucks, and for me the third time was a charm, so as discouraged as you are, know that it will happen for you! I've read plenty of other FET success stories on here when fresh cycles failed.

Re: BFN First IVF Round
So sorry! With my daughter, she was the second Fet. Don't lose hope! Preparing for FET was much easier than a fresh and they say it is less stress on the body since you do not need to stim. We transferred 3 each time. Gl Eta we did icsi and assisted hatching

BFN First IVF Round
I am so very sorry...My first IVF fresh cycle failed...we transferred one hatching blast...I was so devastated...at my consult after the beta the dr. said sometimes that that all of the FSH may cause the uterus to not be as receptive to implantation...we did a FET right after the failure and we transferred 2...we got pregnant with our daughter...dont lose hope

Re: BFN First IVF Round
I am really sorry..I know firsthand that pain...our first IVF cycle was a BFN too and I was devastated. Got the call at work and went home and cried for a day. After that, I saw a different doctor within the practice, who put me on Metformin for my PCOS, which I should have been on all along. I also changed my diet (low sugar / carb), did acupuncture, added flax seed to my food daily, and started praying (I know that was a personal thing for me..but I believe it helped).
Three months later, we did our second cycle - IVF / ICSI, which resulted in my now 3.5 year old DS. For that cycle we transferred 3 embies and only 1, my DS, took. That cycle also resulted in 6 frozen embryos, 2 of which I am carrying now - I am 32 weeks pregnant with twin boys! For that cycle, I was (am) 35 and we put back two..and both took.
So I 100% understand what you are going through..keep the faith and take some time to reflect and talk to the doctor about what could have went wrong. In my case with my first cycle I had embryo fragmentation - when I went on the Metformin for my second cycle - no fragmentation.
Good luck

we saw our RE this morning and this is exactly what he said too. basically that over stimulation that is necessary for good follicles production kinda negates sometimes the receptiveness of the uterus. So after hearing that I am feeling so much better and especially hearing all of ur personal experiences and words of encouragement. thanks so much everyone now I am just looking fwd to doing the frozen cycles and going to manage our expectation better lol
