Moms who breast fed DC #2. How did you do it?!
Sorry for all my questions. Due any day now and im starting to worry. I have a 4.5yr old who is pretty independent but I'm still worried juggling BF and taking care of the older DC I remember my first taking forever to nurse and it being time consuming. Any tips you can offer?

It honestly wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I would sit on the floor in DS's playroom and nurse DD there. This way I was still on his level and could play/interact with him (somewhat). If he was being particularly difficult, that's when the TV would come on. I also used the Moby as much as I could so that my hands would be free while she nursed.

It's not that hard at all, you'll be surprised how much you can get done while BF your DC I hold DS and Bf while I do things with DD, like playing, doing homework and so on. My DD had just turned 5 when I had DS so I was worried. But it's working out fine, not as hard as I thought it would be. It's been almost 7 mo of EBF and still going strong .

Re: Moms who breast fed DC #2. How did you do it?!
My boys are 3.5 years apart. I had no issues BFing while taking care of DS1. He's very independent and we had talked a lot about me feeding the baby before the baby was born. DS1 was always a slow nurser. He'd take 45-60 minutes to eat as a newborn and still took at least 30 minutes to eat as an older infant. From the beginning, DS2 only nursed for 20 minutes at a time. It was also much easier the second time around. Good luck!

You just do it! It of course presents it challenges, but you can totally do it! My DD's are just shy of 3 years apart. Aznd the baby got her share of being bopped on the head while nursing, but we made it through!

This. I was a little worried as well as how it would work out but it just did. My DD was just under 2 1/2 when I had DS. I would pull out some crayons, coloring books, blocks, etc. to keep her entertained while I was feeding the baby. A lot of times she would just sit right next to me and 'feed' her babies too . TV helps too. It will be fine!

Same. I just nursed the baby in whatever room the 2 year old was playing in. We occasionally busted out Finding Nemo or Elmo's World. DD2 was a BFing champ and would finish pretty quickly, which also helped. I think bottle feeding #2 would be harder, personally.

Re: Moms who breast fed DC #2. How did you do it?!
I'm doing it now, DD just turned 2 and DS is now 2 months. DD is very attached to me and needy so it can be tough at times. She is too young to really understand and gets jealous. It works out though, I just keep at it. I try to get her to play with her toys, sadly TV is a big help. I think if she were older and more independent it would be much easier. It's definitely doable.

Totally agree. I have a 6yr, 3yr and 3 month. At the beginning its overwhelming but it gets easier as time goes by. I usually take the time to talk to them about random stuff or play a game board. It's all about multi tasking.

Re: Moms who breast fed DC #2. How did you do it?!
I'm actually writing this on my phone while nursing my 2 month old while my 20 month old plays with Legos . It definitely can be tricky at times but you just figure it out. Lots of times, my ds sits next to me and we read, watch a show, play with the iPad. If your older child is pretty independent then you will be fine! The first few weeks it was tricky but it's gotten much easier!!

Ditto! (Except my girls are 2 years apart.) DD1 was curious at first but then really didn't care. I would try to sit on the floor and read to her or do a puzzle while I nursed the baby. Or sometimes I just put on Peppa Pig!
The cutest was when DD started nursing her baby dolls.

Re: Moms who breast fed DC #2. How did you do it?!
My twins were 2 when my 3rd was born and it was not an issue at all. They read a book, played, or watched a tv show when the baby needed to be fed. Or I'd just walk around the house with the baby hanging off my boob LOL. It was so much easier the second time around.

Re: Moms who breast fed DC #2. How did you do it?!
My girls were 3.5 and 4.5 years old when their brother was born. We completely EBF'ed without ever using bottles. My biggest tip is to wear your baby! Frees up your hands to take care of the other kids. I also stocked up on craft supplies and let the girls go art crazy during nursing sessions. DS just turned two and still nurses, so it's completely possible to be successful with older kids. Good luck and congrats on baby#2!

Re: Moms who breast fed DC #2. How did you do it?!
I am in the same boat right now..I have 2 year old twins and a 2 week okd ds. i just posted earlier in the week that I didn't think I could do it...but it has gotten so much better. I find getting on the floor with them to play while nursing is helping. I am also thinking of getting some sort of wrap carrier. For time when they are eating also this way I have free hands. If you are having a rough day post on here and you will get tons of encouragement. It makes the tough days easier.
The twins were a little freaked out at first like what the he k are you doing? Now dd runs around saying I want to see mommies boobie

I was able to do it with a 12 month old at home. The first month was tough but it got easier.
