BTDT: moms who breast fed
When did your milk come in? DD was born Thursday night just before midnight. I felt like she may not be getting enough milk, so I tried pumping and sure enough there were only a few drops. Im not even 36hours postpartum. Just wanted to see others experiences

Mine was probably about 4 full days. I could feel it starting to come in the night I came home from the hospital, but I don't think it really came in until the next day. Keep her at the breast as long as she'll stay there and put her on as often as she'll let you to help your milk come in.

Probably 3.5 or 4 days. I wouldn't worry about not getting much when pumping. Keep putting DC on as much as you can and she'll get your supply going.

Re: BTDT: moms who breast fed
Not till the end of the sixth day!!! Newborn only needs colostrum first few days anyway. I put him on my breast every other hour for 20 minutes during the day to get the mik to come in. He was fine with just that!

Re: BTDT: moms who breast fed
mine tiook awhile- i haveleaked once in nearly 5 weeks! ijust started getting engorged. Everyone is different keep doing whatyou are doing. Youe child will let you know if it isnt enough. In the beginning you only need a little bit- they will feed frequently. as your milk comes in, they will need to feed less frequently. Dont worry. Mother nature has it all figured out.

Re: BTDT: moms who breast fed
It took me a couple of days. I wouldnt worry your baby is getting what she needs right now even though you think its not much. They only need very little in the beginning.

Took about 5 days. I was pumping right away too and barely got anything - I think the first day when they were super engorged I got half an ounce.

Re: BTDT: moms who breast fed
7 days for dd (NICU and cs) and 3 for DS (cs). I wouldn't go by how little your pumping. I was and still unable to pump unless my LO is nursing at the same time.
Is your baby having enough wet/poopy diapers? Both of mine were even though they were losing weight. Also try kangaroo care, it helped me a ton. I never felt engorged when my milk came in so I wouldn't use that as a sign, hth!! Good luck!

Re: BTDT: moms who breast fed
With DS1, it came in at 4 days PP. This time, it came in by 3 days PP. I wouldn't worry too much. A newborn's stomach is so small at the beginning. They don't need much at all, especially during the first 36 hours.

Re: BTDT: moms who breast fed
Almost a week for my DS....don't go by the pump...the COLOSTROM is very thick and you LO can get it better than the pump...but at day 3 your LO's stomach is only the size of a golf ball...so they don't need ounces and ounces...that COLOSTROM is all they need...just keep putting to the breast and the more you do the faster it will come in!
Good luck! And just worry if there are wet diapers bec if something is coming out - something must be going in!

That's how you know you're doing it right Let the house go to hell and order take-out for dinner... just keep nursing the baby and it will all work out.

I promise it won't feel like that forever....once you get into a routine and your LO becomes more efficient the feedings get quicker and quicker...now at 8 mo..some feedings are like 5 min long...but in. The beginning it was easily 30 mins +\-

You probably are! With both kids they started spacing feedings out anywhere from 2-4 hours by 2.5-3 months in. It seems like a long time away, but it will be here before you know it. Keep up the great work!!
