Those with 2 litter boxes/2 cats
Some of you may know my situation from my previous posts but my older cat is sometimes using the litter box and sometimes not. (its possible its bc of the kitten we took in in October)
Anyway - I really don't have a spot for a second litter, so in the closet where we keep the litter, I put one small liter box and 1 medium, they just fit. I have been cleaning it as soon as either cat goes in. I noticed that both cats are going in both litter boxes. Is that typical? I guess I'm just curious as to why the vet and all research I did suggested the cats want their own box, but they are using both anyway.

Yep completely normal. For some reason I think they getting to choose for themselves makes them happy. Mine use whichever one they decide to like best at that time.

We have 2 cats and 2 litter boxes. They use one for pee and one for poop. It's so funny.

Same here. They use both boxes interchangeably.
