What activities is your DC in? Pros/cons?

DS is in gymnastics right now, and I have to say I am not impressed. He's 4 and honestly, the group is often lead by tweens who sit around and don't pay attention or really show the kids how to use the equipment.

I was talking to some of the mothers yesterday who have the same rant.

It's a lot of $$$ to pay for this nonsense.

We want to enroll him in soccer, little league and eventually karate.

Discuss!!!!

DS - Soccer, baseball, piano, library, science class...Loves all but, I feel like this is even too much some weeks in addition to school! Over the summer we will add swimming and Karate (the other sports will end except for short camps).

DD- Ballet and library classes in addtion to a two's program...At this age that is plenty for her and she enjoys all...

I will say that I am big on trying classes out or enrolling for a short period of time before I committ because I have definitely found some classes to be as you describe. In particular, a gymnastics class DD was previously doing and a sports class DS was previously doing...

DS is four and he does soccer, t ball, and martial arts. Soccer is iffy for him. He loves going and doing drills, but he hates playing in the games. He loves t ball. He started martial arts a month ago and LOVES it. It was a lot more money than I wanted to pay, but I think the fact that he loves it and the lifelong skills he (hopefullly) will learn will outweigh the cost...

DS is 2 1/2 and he goes to library class (free and our town does a really nice job with it!)
he also goes to a mommy and me class at a play place (we're in NJ) which is also really cute)
AND once a week we go to the Little Gym. love this!! if you're looking for another gym type thing for your DS, you might look into Little Gym. Its pricey, but the instructors really are great- they're adults who pay attention to the kids, help them on the equipment, and put a lot into the class. its a lot more than just the kids running around the gym Chat Icon

DS is in swimming and t-ball and has done soccer. He didn't really love soccer. I just bought a groupon for gymnastics in the summer.

Ok... Yeah I think they're all individually owned, so it Probably depends on which one you go to.

DS is 2.5. He is in dance class and t-ball. He also goes to different classes at our local library- JumpBunch, Toddlers Tango, Tot's night out.

Pros - gets him to socialize with other children
Cons- waking up early on weekends for dance and t-ball.

If you feel it's a waste, def cancel if you can! I cant stand unorganized programs.

My DD is in swimming and ballet. We have done gymnastics and I just felt it wasnt worth going forward if I didnt want her to become a gymnast (JMO).

I will continue dance and maybe do 3 more swimming sessions, at least until DD hits the highest level (not for competition, just for practice/skill).

We plan to do soccer, looked in to it this year but felt it wasn't worth it.

DS is 3 and is currently doing swimming. In the fall, I think I am going to sign him up for a soccer program and swimming again.

He goes to daycare FT and has a karate class there, as well as a music class.
