No voice
OK so what can i take or do to help me get my voice back.. About 3 days ago i had a sore thoart then yesterday i was very horse sounding and when i woke up this morning i had NO voice at all. its a little sore but not to bad. I went to the dr. and they said im negitive for strep and to gragle with listarine but its not making any difference..
I am a pre-k teacher and I have a 2 year old at home im trying to rest the little wishper that i do have but its impossable to not speak at all...
Is there anything else i can do or take to help me???? How long can this last for???

It sounds like you have Laryngitis. Did the DR say anything about to you? I would try to gargle with apple cyder vinegar, that's known for most vocal singers to help soothe their vocals.

thanks for the response. Nope the dr didnt say anything.. Not my normal dr and i was not a fan of her/
i will try anything at this point lol thanks :)

Yeah its strange that the dr wouldn't mention that. It sounds like thats what you have but def try the apple cyder.

Try ginger tea with lemon and honey. Boil water with fresh ginger and add lemon and honey to it. Helps sooth the throat.

You can buy a tea in GNC. It's made with Eucalyptus, and works great to bring the voice back.I used to get alot of laryngitis, and a singer rec it to me!

I love that stuff! Also, a supplement with slippery elm can help. The biggest thing is rest, water and not pushing while speaking. Try to rest your voice as much as you can this weekend. Feel better!

He didn't prescribe prednisone?
That would help reduce inflammation.
I have an excellent ENT. He has an office in NYC and north nj. FM if u want his info.

Go see an ENT. But the best advice is hydration, no speaking or whispering as that stresses your throat more and get on a steroid.
In about 2-3 days that should do it.
You can also try some advil which will help with inflammation.
It doesn't matter what you hydrate with just keep pushing fluids.
