Running accomplishment!
In the past 5 years that I've run regularly, I could never imagine running without my iPod. Well, today it stopped working at around 1.75miles, and while I was devastated at first, managed to run the next 4.25 fine. It was actually nice to be able to focus on my breathing and hear ambient sounds, like birds chirping. I think this is a new era of running for me!
Anyone else run sans music?

Running accomplishment!
I always run without music. It is so much safer for you. You can hear cars and other people around you - you are more aware of your surroundings. I have not run with music in over 7 years - it's great!

Congrats! I never run with music because I like to be aware of my surroundings. However, when I use the treadmill I do like to have music.Outside though, I find on a long run I do some of my best thinking without music as a distraction

When I was training for a marathon last year I did a lot of group runs so gave up the music on long runs. Now I only use it if I am on the treadmill.

That's great!
I always run without music, unless I'm running a very long distance (like 10+ miles) to prevent boredom. I like being able to hear what's going on & also I get annoyed with having the buds in my ears & they don't stay in.

Yay! Running without music is so much more social! I had trouble with it at first but it isn't so bad!

awesome!!
i have been running without music on and off... when i run with my son i don't turn the music on so we can talk.
since i hurt my knee, i've been running without music so i can be much better aware of what my body is doing and saying to me.

I can't do silence that much...LOL. I don't listen when running with my partner, but then I get diarrhea of the mouth.
