Planning christening- beverage option question
We are having my DD's christening out at a restaurant. I have called around to many places in Suffolk county and some offer unlimited beer/wine/soda for 15pp and others pitcher of beer $18, pitcher of soda $10, carafe of wine $22 and punch bowl (sangria or champagne) $50. We are planning to invite 45 adults and 12 kids. Which beverage option is better?

Planning christening- beverage option question
Last time we did a party in a restaurant we did beer and wine and then ran a tab for hard alcohol.

We did this too. If your crowd isn't full of big drinkers, you could even look into just running a tab - being that it's an afternoon party.
I'm not familiar with the other pricing you mentioned (and I worked for awhile in catering). Is it per pitcher/carafe?

Re: Planning christening- beverage option question
we just did beer/wine/soda package.... if we ran a tab for hard liquor then it would be a huge bar bill since there are big drinkers in our families

We ran a tab for everything. It worked out better for us.

Re: Planning christening- beverage option question
It all depends if you have big drinkers or not in the family as a whole. We did a tab at one party and it was ridiculous.

Ditto. We did the beer/wine/soda package. If anyone wanted anything else they bought it themselves at the bar.

Re: Planning christening- beverage option question
We had 70 adults at DS' christening. We had seven tables in a restaurant. I bought a carafe of wine for each table. (7x$20) If anyone ordered anything additional I told the waitress to run a tab. My bar bill came to $290 (including the wine). It would have cost me $700 if I had had unlimited wine and beer ($10 pp) and $1050 if I had had unlimited beer/wine/liquor ($15 pp).
Run a tab

Planning christening- beverage option question
I would run a tab because you will still have to pay that amount for every person who doesn't drink (think kids, etc)
