Runner Question

Do you run with a midfoot, forefoot, or heel strike?

I was a heel striker and it apparently led to my hamstring injury.

I'm currently changing to a midfoot strike and its hard! I have such sore calves.

Do you guys struggle with your strike? Have you changed it?

Runner Question

similar to you.

i am naturally a heel striker. with my IT band issues, i've been working hard on being more of a midfoot striker. my calves have never ached/been sore until i started doing this. i just hope it gets better

Runner Question

Have you tried seeing a foot dr that can prescribe/make you good orthodics? Since I've gotten mine i've had no issues with running any way and feel great. Definitely a huge help with my knees and hips as well!

Re: Runner Question

If I run with a slight forward lean, I find it easier to maintain a midfoot strike. I think doing that minimizes injury too, because when I used to run standing straight & heel striking, I'd get terrible sciatica.

Re: Runner Question

I think I had always been a midfoot striker, but in the 90's I thought it was good to heel strike. Not sure if I was heel striker unless I thought about it.

I consciously went back to a midfoot. It was easy, but I may have always been a midfooter unless i thought about it during that time and used my heel.

That being said, I have Skechers Go Run and I LOVE them. They are designed that you hit midfoot - no heel strike option.

Newtons force midfoot as well.

Re: Runner Question

I was going to say to try newtons too. I run midfoot but when i tire i start heel striking. Have to consciously force a midfoot strike when im exhausted.
