Question about Teaching UPK
Are UPK teachers considered employees of the district that their school is in (if it is run in an elementary school).
Or are they paid by the state/county ?

Re: Question about Teaching UPK
I think it depends on the district. Our UPK teachers are not district employees. I think they were hired through scope.

Re: Question about Teaching UPK
It depends...in my district, they are NOT district employees. They are not in the union, make significantly less, and I don't think they have benefits either.

Re: Question about Teaching UPK
If it is NYC, you are paid by the DOE per the teachers contract. Many schools on LI THAT HAVE UPK are not district employees, but are paid by whoever is running the program (they rent the space from the district).
