MTHFR & Antiphospholipids
Hi All- I am new to this group. I have PCOS and have had multiple miscarriages. I am looking for some advice from all you knowledgeable ladies! After being told by my OB my miscarriages were just "bad luck" I pushed to see an RE. The RE ran a RPL panel on me and I came back positive with MTHFR (homozygous) and abnormal Antiphospholipids. I waited 8 weeks and am retaking the Antiphospholipids test again as you need two positives to confirm. As I wait for these test to come back I am a little concerned about the MTHFR. My RE doesn't seem to think it’s a big deal. I was told just take extra B vitamins. After doing research I pushed to have a script for Metanx. When asked about possibly taking baby aspirin I was told it wasn't necessary. As I insisted I was told I could if I wanted to. If the Antiphopholipids comes back positive I will need to take heprin/lovenox. I have been discussing with DH and we have both been researching. DH is concerned with the nonchalantness of the dr but doesn’t want me taking more medicine/supplements then I would need. My gut is telling me I need to do something to avoid more losses. Could I please ask you guys what treatment protocol you were put on for similar issues.
Thank you!!!

Re: MTHFR & Antiphospholipids
I would see an RE who really specializes in multiple losses and is really knowledgable about protocols surrounding those issues. Dr.B in Long Island or Dr.Tortoriello at SIRM in the city could both help you manage the issues you mentioned.
For what it's worth, I have 2 copies of MTHFR, antiphosphlipid antibodies, among other similar issues- and I have been on metanx, baby aspirin, and lovenox for this entire pregnancy. I've had MULTIPLE losses and am currently 9 months pregnant with the help of those meds and some really great doctors. It IS possible Good luck!

Thank you so much for your reply! Next step for me is seeing a hematologist.
