Nanny salary and questions
We're looking into moving to LI and trying to figure out childcare has been quite tough since we're the type of parents that prefer daycare/preschool but no luck with any locations that have infant room availability.
We have an infant who will be 3months when we move to LI and I have a preschooler 3.5 yo.
We have never used a nanny - can you share how much is the going rate for fulltime nanny if paid by week? Do you use sites like care.com and sittercity.com to find your nanny or did you use an agency?
For those who send one of their child to preschool, do you ask your nanny to drive or walk to pick up your child (if it is walkable distance)?
THANK YOU!

Re: Nanny salary and questions
We found our nanny on care.com. She has been with us for 4.5 years. She picks the boys up from school. I like to drop them off when I can. She will drive them around locally to mall, bookstore, etc.
I think the going rate is 12-15/hr. We have her hourly rate but don't dock her if we let her leave early and if she has to stay late here and there we don't pay her extra. Its almost like a weekly salary now unless something special happens. We pay her vacation and whatever holidays I have off from work.
