I was so freaked out leading up to labor. In the past I would pass out at blood draws or when people get hurt - Dh and I both didn't know how I would make it through labor. I had such an amazing experience though all the worry was for nothing. The nurses talk you through everything and I knew I was in good hands. I had the epidural and could barely feel a thing.

I'm nervous and I plan on no epidural So, reality really hit this week when my doc said at anytime I can start dilating!! I am hoping my munchkin stays in a little longer so I can finish buying things and setting things up...I still feel like I'm not ready

Re: Is anyone else really nervous about delivery?!
I was VERY (very very) nervous during my whole pregnancy up until 35 weeks or so. At this point (due in 5 days) I'm so excited to meet him and am done being pregnant.
I'm having this baby one way or another so I can either be nervous and psych myself out, or try and think otherwise and psych myself up.
(Ha! We'll see how I feel once I get to the hospital).

Nervous? Yup! I've never been admitted to the hospital for anything (knock on wood) and when I think about it, I'm a little frightened. But the reality is that the baby is coming and there's not much I can do about it, so I'm just going to have to roll with the punches.

I was extremely nervous, so much so that I didn't take a hospital tour or any classes because I just didn't want to think too much about it. I knew DD would be born one way or another!

Re: Is anyone else really nervous about delivery?!
Before I got pregnant the idea of labor and delivery scared me to death. Once I got pregnant something just switched and I knew he had to come out so it is what it is. I was induced so going to the hospital knowing I was having the baby was exciting and nerve wracking but I told myself that in less than 24 hours I would be holding my baby. (I refused to believe I would be in labor more than 24 hours hahah)

The day I went into labor I didn't think about delivery i was focused on getting thru the contractions. I was in so much pain that delivery was the last thing in mind. Delivering is the easiest part!! don't worry ladies there is nothing to be scared about!!! enjoy your last dayssss and try to get rest!!!

Is anyone else really nervous about delivery?!
I was nervous with DS, but towards the end I said to myself I can spend the next few weeks stressing out over something I have no control of or I can hope for the best! I tried hard just to tell myself that it would be ok. When my water broke at 330am I was so excited, nervous, anxious, everything! It was all ok. Did it hurt? Yes! But our bodies are made for this. I actually had a good delivery and I know it can go a different direction. But you can't control it. Just think positive. It will be quick, your epidural will work, and before you know it you will be holding your little baby!

Re: Is anyone else really nervous about delivery?!
Don't worry!! Yes of course there's some pain involved, but you'll have all that adrenaline in your system, you'll be so excited, that the pain will be secondary. I highly suggest getting an epidural as soon as you're allowed to. I waited trying to decide if I should get it yet, which wasted time & kept me in pain unnecessarily. And you'll forget the discomfort as soon as you see your baby (Remember, if it were really that bad, nobody would have more than one!) Good luck!!!!

I was nervous but, by the end I was so ready to be done - it outweighed my nerves.

I wasn't really nervous about delivery...I was more nervous about the epi like a PP said.
In the end, while delivery was up and down and eventful it really wasn't that bad. Trust the nurses in the room. They will be amazing and help you through it from start to finish!

Re: Is anyone else really nervous about delivery?!
This is my 2nd round and I'm a bit nervous and NOT looking forward to the contractions.
Those are what were the hardest IMO. Getting through them as they grew longer and longer hurt more than the actual delivery.
I walked around the hospital in the middle of the night with DH to move me further along so I was having contractions in the hallways standing up trying not to scream too loud
I will never forget when we got admitted to a bed at 3:00am and I heard a woman screaming like she was being murdered The nurse turned to me and said :Thats someone WITHOUT the Epi!!" I quickly said "give me my Epidural!!!"
Once that was administered it was mush easier. I thought I would be scared of getting it but the worse part was trying not to react to the contractions while they are putting it in. The nurse had me in a bear hug to keep me from moving.
Actual delivery with an Epi was fine. Just a lot of pressure.

Re: Is anyone else really nervous about delivery?!
I think the unknown is actually scarier then the actual labor and delivery. When it's happening you just do it. I'm more nervous about not knowing when I'm actually going to go into labor and not being prepared. I was induced last time so I had time to prepare before I went to the hospital.
