After Ectopic...
Those who experienced ectopic pregnancy and had gotten the methotrexate injection, how was it once you started to try to conceive again? Did you get any testing done to make sure your tubes were not blocked or anything like that? I just got the injection a few days ago but I am trying to stay positive and to think ahead at the same time. I am feeling exhausted today and a little bit down, so I need some positive stories to put me in that positive light again. Just out of curiosity, does this warrant IUI or IVF? I am leaning towards no since it does not reduce the chance of ectopic. When I asked my current RE about getting pregnant again and my fear of another ectopic, he suggested IVF... But IM going to see another RE.

Re: After Ectopic...
We TTC on our own for a few months after the ectopic because I couldn't even think of going back and starting that whole process again. Hoped I'd be one of those miracle stories of getting PG on her own after failed IF treatments - Nope.
Went back to the RE and they did a whole bunch of blood work and had me for go another HSG to see if the tube was ok. Well, both tubes were blocked at this point but they were able to force open the left side with the dye. (When I first started this, my right tube was in perfect condition but my left was scarred from Endo. So the Dr. thinks the right may have been damaged by the pregnancy, OB agrees, but they can't be sure)
I was told once you have an ectopic, your chances of another increase. The only way to lower that chance is with IVF. Especially in my case with my endometriosis and known tubal scarring.
This happened to me back in January so it's been a long time of talking to so many different women and I have heard a ton of success stories following ectopics WITHOUT needing IVF. Most of them don't have the same IF issues as I do, but it does happen.
Also from what I read, Fertility treatments themselves can cause a higher rate of Ectopic Pregnancies.

Re: After Ectopic...
It's all so confusing. My beta is up from last time but its not unusual 4 days after the methotrexate. I'm hoping it'll go down on Wednesday. I feel very tired and nauseous.

Re: After Ectopic...
We had an ectopic back in early July and are now cleared to start TTCing again once I get my next period. We plan on doing EXACTLY THE SAME as we did on the successful cycle only because we did become pregnant, it just landed at the wrong spot!! I am actually pretty optimistic this cycle so i'm hoping not to be disappointed...
Good luck

After Ectopic...
I had an etopic about a year ago. That tube was unable to be saved. My doctor cleaned out the other tube but mentioned that he didn't have much hope. I finally had an HSG test in March and it showed that the other tube is open and we are able to conceive naturally. DH and I plan to start next month. An HSG will show if your tubes are blocked. Good luck!

Did you get an HSG done to check your tubes?

How is the chance of ectopic lower with IVF if fertility treatments increase the risk?!

They say with meds and IUI. Not sure exactly anymore bc I have forced myself to stop googling! It's less with IVF because you bypass the tubes totally. The embryo has to literally float over to the tube after IVF for there to be a tubal pregnancy. That lessens the chances

Re: After Ectopic...
i didnt have any further testing done...
I had 5 more pregnancies and none were ectopic if that makes you feel better.
I did have 4 more losses and eventually went with IVF thinking egg quality was the issue... but that didnt seem to be the case either...

Re: After Ectopic...
My beta rose 4 days after shot quite significantly... Now day 7 only dropped a tiny bit. I'm going back tomorrow for blood and a sonogram. So fed up with this.

Mine is mid 2000 right now. I just had some pink/brown discharge so that makes me feel better.
