Litter box question

How often should you buy new litter boxes?

I have two large plastic covered ones and 2 cats.

I clean them and usually rinse them down really good each week.


Also any other tips you can recommend.

I've started buying the more expensive litter and feel like sometimes I can stretch 2 weeks between full cleanings.

I think it depends on how you take care of your litter box. If you use liners or scoop daily/religiously so that for the most part urine doesn't leech into the plastic I don't think you have to replace them at all. Maybe not even in 5-10 years. But if you let the box get funky and don't scoop (or don't add litter when it runs low) then it might have an odor problem or the plastic may get brittle from constant exposure to chemical cleaners and/or urine.

I think that vinegar or enzyme cleaners can really help break down the urine if it soaks into the plastic. For me I have not had to replace any of my boxes because they went bad, only because I wanted a different feature for my box. Now I have a litter robot but before that I had 3 different boxes (low one, high one they jump in from the top, and a roll to clean box). I am always looking for easier ways to be lazy LOL

Litter box question

I think I am on year 13 with this litterbox, a big covered one.
I have always used a liner, use clorox wipes when the box gets changed, and every couple of months give it a good scrubbing.
Feline Pine is the litter we use.

eta : I can get just about two weeks out of the Feline Pine.
