Re: Convertible Car seat?
Actually, none. Or if you add one, I recommend exchanging it for something you need.
#1 it's best to buy it when you actually need it to get the most recent model. It will have all the latest safety features.
#2 a convertible carseat in the box takes up a lot of space and you will not need it for a long time. It's annoying to store it for a year.
Also, car seats have "expiration dates" and a convertible car seat can be used for years. Why get it practically a year before you will use it?

This unless you are forgoing the traditional infant seat.
We are buying a Diono Radian RXT for this baby and will use it form birth. Our infant seat expires in June of 2014 with baby due in May. We figured we would just buy the conv seat instead since we love them and we baby wear anyway.

This. And we tried 3 seats out in our cars before we decided on the Evenflo.

Re: Convertible Car seat?
The sales guy at BBB said to exchange the car seat we get from the shower when we are ready to use it. That way we get a longer shelf life on it.

Re: Convertible Car seat?
All the answers given are correct and all the answers are totally wrong.
You did not provide enough information with your question. What vehicles will the set be used in? How old is your Child?
The Evenflo cannot fit rear of forward facing in a number of vehicles well. The Dinono does not work well rear facing in certain cars.

I have a question. You always say buy a seat that fits in the car and you always want to know what car. Well what happens when you buy a new car. Based on your advice we should be buying new seats.
Since I have had 4 new vehicles in my family since we had DS. How Are we really supposed to buy based on car model

Can you recommend a resource that lists what car seats are compatible with particular cars?

This is not really the case - there are certain brands that work well with the majority of vehicles - Britax and Graco (some models) for example. - some brands do not work well with the majority of vehicles - Safety 1st for example. and some brands work well depending on the vehicle - Evenflo for example.
My main point is that when asking a question please provide vehicle and child information so a proper answer can be given as opposed to other parents likes and dislikes that may not be appropriate.
While I find all the parents helpful, the suggestions that are made are not always the best answers for certain situations.
Also you do not have to buy new seats for every new car - in moving a seat most times it moves fine - if not - then I can give the "tricks" to make the installation work. Please understand that I have been a certified tech longer than most techs in the metro area. I have been a tech since 1997 and in that time have assisted in the installation of over 16,000 seats. As well as manage the first fitting station in Nassau County since that time.
The answers I give are based on - Seat you can afford - the seat that works with your vehicle and child and the seat you will use correctly every time.

Yes and no - Carseat.org is ok - For the most part that is why I have been answering FM every day at 5 or 6 a day with specific questions.
