Re: Should I leave negative or neutral feedback??

Can you imagine if everyone felt bad leaving a negative feedback for someone that screwed them because of the "what if's"? There would be no proper feedback on ebay, and more buyers would continue to get screwed. The feedback system is there for a reason.
I agree. I would also leave negative feedback.
As a buyer, I would want to know and compare.
If it truly was a one-off incident, the one negatiave feedback would be offset by positive feedback.

Negative is the worst thing that you can do, what you give out you get back. You got a full refund, just let it go. This person is going to lose a lot of customers by his own actions.
This is ridiculous. I sell occasionally on eBay and if I did this I deserve the negative. You want to give this guy the negative so all of his competitors would stand out.
This seller wasted two weeks of the OPs time. Getting the refund was guaranteed thanks to seller protection. So the seller did nothing here. If the seller wouldn't refund, eBay would anyways.
i think this is harsh. What are you going to accomplish??? No one died from the experience. Big deal! The money was returned. Everyone has to eat at the end of the day. No need to bury.
The point is while this OP may have filed a claim, some other may not have and would be out the money. That's quite a bit of harm and the OP would be doing a disservice to the entire eBay community by not leaving negative feedback.
Negative feedback is absolutely warranted here as the seller tried to keep the OP's money. I am curious what you would think warrants negative feedback. As I said previously not getting the refund is moot because once the claim is filed you would get your money back regardless (even if the seller didn't refund it).
you are making assumptions for the next customer. She did get her money back. Your posts always seem to be about the financial investment and how not to get screwed. Get over it, it's simple. In this case she did get her money back. It's not going to be the end of all eBay-Ian's bc there was a two week situation. If you want to assume, let's say she just got an over the top illness and has 4 kids to care for. Lets feel bad for her. Still gonna bury her???
First of all PrincessP your saying about get money back and dying is the most moronic thing I've ever heard one has nothing to do with the other. This vender does not care if he takes advantage of customers like he is, think about how many other customer they have done this too. I've dealt with venders likes this and not giving back money doesn't mean jack to them. Most of the time it falls on deaf ears, that's why I said just let it go. I'm happy that she got her money back at least eBay did what was right, now they need to drop this vendor.

I never realized this before this site, but eBay feedback is a hot button topic, right up there with dogs in stores, breastfeeding in public, and the Affordable Healthcare Act.

Should I leave negative or neutral feedback??
As a seller AND buyer on eBay, this is what feedback is FOR. If I just decided to NOT ship an item for several weeks and didnt refund the buyer until they asked me for it, I would fully expect negative feedback. Thats the whole point of feedback. If the seller was apologetic and it was a one time oversight and messaged her about it, it would be a totally different story. She wouldn't have gotten her money back if she didn't take action! This seller should have their reputation soiled a bit.

I am glad you keep a running history of my posts. Yes I am going to give any seller a negative for waiting two weeks to take my money, as would the majority of posters in this thread and people on ebay would. (I'll gladly link some similar threads from ebay seller forums)
Also you really don't know if it was indeed the seller that refunded the money. You are also making the assumption that it was the seller that refunded the money. I have received refunds from ebay that I know ebay initiated the refund. They look exactly like it was the seller that did the refund since you get the same exact "you have received a refund" email from paypal.
It is very possible ebay looked at this case, saw no tracking number was uploaded... and just took the initiative to refund the money to keep the buyer happy. eBay does this frequently on small dollar transactions.
If she was the typical "LIF Diabetic", then a simple note saying "sorry i didn't ship this on time" could have sufficed and avoided a negative. (why am I surprised the diabetic arguement was even brought up) following your posts? I think not. You spew the same nonsense for yrs. I am hardly ever on. When I jump back from time to time its the same negative you.

Curiosity is killing me....so basically every time you go out whether its retail, eating out, banks etc... you immediately call and make complaints? Or only when its a mom and pop situation and there is an easy complaint button and you are behind a screen.

This wasn't directed at me but I'll answer. IMO , when you sell on eBay , you're providing a service. You have customers and a reputation. It's no different to me if you're an eBay seller or a big company like Target. If OP ordered from Target and never received order or any communication, she has a right to complain just if it was a seller.
Even though it's not major in the grand scheme of things, it could have been an order she was relying on to receive in a timely fashion.
Sellers on eBay have a responsibility. Communication is key. No matter what. Even if something tragic happened to the seller, it's their responsibility to communicate. They can rebuild their rep later if they must. That's part of the risk they take.
I had ordered an item for a shower on etsy. No communication. Took my money. Never received order until months later and still no communication. I complained and she's no longer allowed to have a shop as others experienced the same. This prevented others from getting screwed over.
As far as everyone having to eat at the end of the day .. So do I. It's not right to just take my hard earned money and not provide me with my order or any communication. Business is business.

Re: Should I leave negative or neutral feedback??
Negative feedback.
Based on the fact that there was zero communication and you never received the item the service they provided was sub-par.
There are protocols when selling on eBay and a big one is ALWAYS maintain communication with your customer. That's par for the course.
The fact that you got your money back is nice, but it's almost irrelevant.
When making a purchase online there are expectations, whether you're dealing with a mom & pop business or you're dealing with a box store, one is that the seller keeps their customer informed of their order. The seller had an obligation to inform you of the status of your order and they did not.
Really, this has nothing to do with the size of the company you were buying from.
FTR, there are a lot of big retailers on eBay selling stuff so assuming this was a mom and pop establishment isn't really fair.

If I place an order with a company and they take my money but never inform me of the order's status, you bet your ass I'm complaining if I don't get my purchase.
I think if anything, people, in general jump all over big companies expecting great customer service. Again, this has nothing to do with the size of the business, though I'd think a small mom and pop store would certainly have the time to send a quick message.

Re: Should I leave negative or neutral feedback??
At the point at which you have to open a case, somehing has gone very wrong. It's the exact thing that people want to know about when they consult feedback before they invest time, money, and aggravaion in what should be a smooth transaction.
If there is a legit./compelling excuse and that's communicated, then you can decide to use discretion, but without communication, having to go to the trouble of opening a case because things weren't seemless is exactly what they're asking you about when they solicit feedback on ebay.

Re: Should I leave negative or neutral feedback??
Def negative. My DH has an online business and does probably 1/2 selling on Ebay.
He prides himself on being responsive but if he dropped the ball he would expect a bad review.
Plus one or 2 bad reviews won't hurt someone and many times actually helps. I have seen many times where buys say there is no way someone can have a perfect feedback. No seller can please everyone so some neg feedback is expected and in this case warranted.

Should I leave negative or neutral feedback??
I see what your saying. But the OP won't close down the store. Just will give a rating that make impact their 100 percent rating on eBay. In my case on etsy, since I paid via pay pal, they couldn't refund my money for some reason. I had to go through a whole song and dance and dispute it. But tons of others had same experience with the seller - at same time I did - and that's when etsy closed the shop. People had used her for gifts and favors and didn't get their item or money.

Negative - no communication, no product, you had to take action to get your money back. As a buyer I would love to know what the feedbacks are so that I can make an informed decision with my purchase.

I definitely get what you're saying. I think in this instance the negative feedback wouldn't really put this guy out of business but it will definitely paint a picture of what her transaction was like. That's really the purpose of feedback in general for eBay. I wouldn't slam the guy but I'd definitely say what happened.
If he's a long time seller with an extensive history, one blemish won't put him out of business, I assure you. And as another poster mentioned, sometimes NOT having ANY negative feedback is a turnoff too because it's hard to believe they've NEVER had a dissatisfied customer and in the day and age of fake transactions and feedback, you can't be too sure.

Re: Should I leave negative or neutral feedback??
The main point is communication. Everybody knows shit happens. People get sick, their schedules get screwy, things get lost or damaged...whatever the case may be. However, as a person doing business on ebay for a profit...it's important to understand that your buyers have made an investment in you and your product and to treat that investment with respect. People are spending their hard earned money so of course they want to be sure they get what they pay for or at least get some type of communication as to why there may be a delay.
I have 100% positive feedback...but last week I was so nauseous with morning sickness that I didn't leave the house. I was laid up most of the week. I emailed my buyer and explained that there was a delay as I was feeling very under the weather, I made sure there was no sense of urgency to receive the item and assured her it would be sent out asap. The customer was very understanding and at least she knows I acknowledged her purchase and that I did not forget her. She now knows that my intention is not to stiff her and by my feedback can tell that this is not the norm. Had I not communicated...I would fully expect negative feedback. Ebay is a business and sellers need to treat it as such because they are receiving money from people.
so, yes...I would leave negative feedback and say "no product, no communication, refund given after I filed with no explanation."
