She was rude and wrong, I'm in retail and unfortunately many people are this way I hate to say it

I was a cashier in high school years ago, unfortunately this type of thing happened all the time. If there wasn't anyone else waiting in line I would cash people out, just to avoid the argument. But, yea people can be so rude.

Kind of obvious (to her) that the other lines were too long because everyone else understood that the rules actually applied to them and didn't try to get ahead quickly/wrongly on the express line--no???
If everyone thinks they are above the rules, there are no rules.
I bet people on those long lines had kids or kids at home or were caretakers or sick themselves...or something. But they accepted the rules that make society run.
No one's time is more valuable than anyone else's.

Yes, of course she was wrong. Rude and wrong. A rule is a rule.
I was in Target on the express line once (which was a mirace in and of itself!  ) and a woman got in line behind me with about 20 items. I think the limit was 10. She just couldn't understand why the cashier wouldn't ring her up- Lady, you have DOUBLE the amount of items you're supposed to!

I just love people who think rules don't apply to them.
They are special.
Like the people who drive on the shoulder in a traffic jam. Because they are just TOO good to wait with the rest of us suckers.

Love when new cashier opens & the person waiting the least amount of time slides right in...bastards. I ALWAYS ask person in front of me if they wannago first. That's how I was raised.

If I was the cashier I would have closed my lane just as she was putting her groceries on the belt. I can't stand people like that.
I'd have done the same thing...
She was so rude.

Total jerk. The shame of it is I'd be willing to bet that if the cashier called over a manager the manager would let the woman check out in the express lane because unless you're stealing no one makes waves in any kind of retail setting. So annoying.
