My Kindergartener has used both. I think price wise the Kindle Fire gets you almost all the same things for them as a pricier tablet would.

We have both and my kids, for their needs and usage, the kindle fire is more than enough for them. Also, you have an hour left, but the kindle fire is 15% off today only!

Kindle Fire vs Tablet
they each have the kindle fire and the iPad, kids (4 & 6) and they both do more or less the same thing. iPad has more apps, but the kindle works just as good.
