I guess I'm in the minority but Thanksgiving isn't really a big deal to me. Being open is a business decision and they must feel the demand is there
My hubby is working on Thanksgiving this year and I will be at the TRU. I am not American, have no family here to celebrate with and I will be shopping!!!
Out of all these pages, this is the comment that annoyed the ever loving shit out of me. I can't put my finger on it.
This is why there is no respect for the holidays anymore. If you live in America now regardless of where one came from respect our holidays. It used to be that families embraced and assimilated, not anymore!

So she's going shopping. She didn't say she doesn't respect our holidays, she said her husband has to work so she's on her own. Lots of people who are American-born are also going shopping on Thanksgiving. I used to work in a community full of immigrant families and most of them celebrated Thanksgiving.

Yes many do, I also worked with a diverse community. Then why say I'm not American and just put I'm going shopping because my husband is working anyway? I'm not the only one that took that post as disrespect for the holiday.

Re: Just another reason to hate Toys R us
I think you are looking way too into this, and causing unnecessary drama. She doesnt acknowledge the holiday, so shes taking advantage of another option. Its like getting mad because people go to the movies, or order chinese food on christmas. I think its ridiculous that the stores give you the option to do so, but im mad at the store, not the people who go to it.
Maybe Im just different because my husband works for Verizon and has to work Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Eve/DAy, Saturday, Sunday, Easter.. ect ect

Playing devils advocate, maybe she was stating she isnt a American so we understand why she doesnt celebrate Thanksgiving. Otherwise people would say how can you not be Thankful as an American or not celebrate and go off on a tangent.
I know alot of American who do not celebrate Thanksgiving or think its a big deal. Its important to me and my family, its how I was raised. But dont fault or judge anyone who doesnt feel its important holiday for them.
