Baby looks up at you while eating either way, and has that 'satisfied' look and falls asleep sweetly on you either way.
I did both bottle feeding breast milk and nursing. I can say it wasn't the same feelings for me. When I nursed it was a much more intense connection that I wouldn't trade for the world. Knowing I was the one responsible for making them happy was a n amazing feeling that was totally different then bottle feeding. I understand your point but to say it's the same isn't really fair or true. How would you know? That's like saying a c-section or vaginal delivery is easy or hard when you never had one. I'm glad your experience was good and that's awesome, but they are different.
Oy vey. To the OP, do what is best for YOU, not what has been better for anyone else here.
In regards to the quoted poster, I would know, I don't have to explain myself. My statement stands as it being the best for ME.

Exactly. And I am just not sure what you mean by "you are the one responsible for making them happy" when you breastfeed. Even if you formula feed, you are STILL the one responsible for making them happy. By giving them food. Nourishment. It's all on you. They are helpless and totally dependant on you to meet their needs and make them happy. Whether that is by the breast or the bottle, it's the same thing. All they know is that mommy fed them. They don't care where it is coming from.

I never once in my entire adult life had a desire to breastfeed. I wasn't going to "try" it. I wasn't going to "see how it went" I wasn't going to "think about it"
NEVER EVER was it even a thought.
NEVER EVER did I feel guilty for that either. Maybe there is something majorly wrong with me. Maybe I shouldn't have reproduced Maybe I don't have the mom gene.
However, I saw my DD thriving, healthy and meeting developmental milestones EARLY every single day. All this while on formula. And that was enough for me.
DD was and is super healthy. Rarely ever sick.
I really saw no benefit in breastfeeding/ I don't see one thing that could have been better in my DD's health and intellect, etc had I chosen breast feeding over formula feeding.
My views on the subject aren't popular in this day and age. But I really don't care. I do what's best FOR ME.
This exactly. Both my DS's are thriving and I'm 100% comfortable with my choice. Do what works for you and don't worry about anyone else!

Women Who Do Not Breastfeed
I went into it with dd1 saying I would just roll with it and I had a hard few weeks trying to nurse and had a lactation consultant come to my house and ended up pumping for 4 months and the entire time, my supply was never great but I'd felt I did something and she thrived and I couldn't imagine spending my time crying instead of enjoying dd
This time ill roll with it but know better

Yea, you can't possibly make your child happy while FFing....
One of the many reasons why I didn't BF my DS - PRO-BF'ers who constantly belittled my choice to not to do it!!!
To the OP I just knew before I even thought about becoming a mother that I was not comfortable with the idea of BFing. The End.

Re: Women Who Do Not Breastfeed
Ladies-thank you all so much. What I got out of this thread was that I should do whats best for me and I'll have to see what that is. It is definitely refreshing to hear that! And it reduced my anxiety a lot. Thank you

For me it was never something that was for me. My son was in nicu so I felt like I had to try pumping bc every other mother was. One day by ob came in and I was trying to pump and crying. He told me it is not for everyone and I should not feel bad. That day I stopped. It is a personal decision and it is not for everyone!
This is what happen to me and I wasn't producing enough

I EBF and completely disagree. Maybe it was different for you but that doesn't mean it will be different for everyone else.

I also did both and didn't find any bigger connection from nursing.

Re: Women Who Do Not Breastfeed
I never tried, I never had any desire to try. It wasnt something I was comfortable with. The thought of having to do it when other people were present made me SO uncomfortable. Maybe its selfish, but my daughter thrived. I dont have any regrets about it. I think its awesome that other women can do it, It just wasnt for me. Its a very personal decision, and you have to want to do it.

Re: Women Who Do Not Breastfeed
As someone who is going to have a baby for the first time this week and is VERY nervous about trying to breast feed, I truly appreciate the honesty of the posts here. When it seems like everyone will think you are a "bad mom" for not breast feeding, it's nice to hear from women who have been there and whose babies are just fine on formula! As its been said- the important thing is to feed your child- however you are comfortable!!

I couldn't agree more. My ds is a formula baby and his hitting his developmental milestones way ahead of the game.

Women Who Do Not Breastfeed
i did breastfeed but wanted to say you should not feel anxiety over this no matter what you choose i was iffy on the topic but figured hey, i can save money and maybe shed the 40+ lbs a little quicker so ill give it a shot. by the end of week 1 i was supplementing bc i needed to for my sanity (combined with not thinking dd was getting enough milk from me). after a few weeks, i ended up ebf bc it got easier for me. then there would be times she would get formula if i was out or wanted a glass of wine etc. you have to do what works for you and not let other peoples views stress you out

In the grand scheme of having a baby, as long as your baby is fed and happy, HOW the baby is fed doesn't matter.
I was going to 'try' to breastfeed, but decided to formula feed. 3 kids later, best decision I made. I never sit feeding my baby and think, "oh man, I should have breastfed him/her." Baby looks up at you while eating either way, and has that 'satisfied' look and falls asleep sweetly on you either way. My kids are happy, and healthy.
Years from now it won't be an issue on HOW you fed your baby. Don't make yourself crazy. Happy mom=happy baby.
I was willing to try it- but it turned out that a medication I need to take is expressed in BM, so formula was a better option for us- and I was TOTALLY fine with it.

Re: Women Who Do Not Breastfeed
I had no desire to. I FF'd right from the start, and never felt bad about it. DS is now a thriving and healthy toddler, rarely ever sick. Do what is right for you and don't let others make you feel bad if you do end up FF.
