christening at the buffet?

I'm planning my daughter's christening. My dilemma is the church starts at 1:30. Should be about an hour long. I was thinking of going to the Chinese buffet afterwards. We were thinking we would get there at 3:00. The buffet closes at lunch at 4:00 for a half an hour. We would be charged the lunch rate but if guest eat after 4:30 then we would be charged dinner rate which is $8 more. The lunch rate is a great deal. Do u think I should do it? Do u think I could do cake at 4? Am i cutting it too close? I just don't want my guest to get lunch leftovers you know. What would u do?

IMO, you are cutting it way too close for comfort. Your guests shouldn't feel rushed as a guest at your party. In addition, I would be totally stressed as the host if this happened (looking at my watch, hoping people didn't go up for more food as it got closer to the time). Most christening and/or other parties (engagement, showers, etc.) held at restaurants get a 4 or 5 hour block. You are trying to condense it into a very short time!

Way too close. I think trying to squeeze a full party into an hour will be too tough. If people run late from the church to the buffet they won't really be able to eat. I would find another place that had a better time frame.

I agree with the other posters, If you can move the time of the christening to earlier it could work (or later then do the dinner buffet instead) , but otherwise I think you are cutting it way way too close.

Kumo if you want to stay with the Asian route. Really reasonable pp prices for parties.

Look into Giorgios in Nesconset. We had dds birthday there and were very happy with everything. They have a room that can hold up to 50 people.
