constipation in 14 month old
DD has really been straining and having hard stools. So I broke down and went to the store for some juice. She has a good diet, drinks water and 3 6-8oz bottles of milk. So I'm trying Mots for tots apple white grape juice. Any other suggestions?

I give dd prunes sometimes. I just cut them up into small pieces for her.

Fast food!! mcdonalds or burger king. Both my kids have very healthy diets with the occasional drive through thrown in. Whenever they have fast food, they go to bathroom within an hour of eating it! Works every time;)

White grape juice is for diarrhea. Pear juice is for constipation. Prunes or prune juice Milk can constipate them

Re: constipation in 14 month old
My 2 yo dd has had this on and off for awhile and while pears and prunes help them go, my ped said you want to get ahead of the problem. I now put Benefiber into her yogurt or pancake mix, and occasionally give her a fiber one brownie as a snack. Good luck. It really stinks having this problem

Re: constipation in 14 month old
Thanks every one! DD won't drink prune juice but I could get packaged prune baby foods. She's been eating pears and it's not really helping. Oh, and she also won't eat fast food. She gets plenty of fiber but apparently I've been feeding her binding foods. My doc only told me to be careful with bananas and apples. Never mentioned dairy, cheese, and cooked carrots. Cheese and carrots are her favorites. We always offered water and I read to offer watered down fruit juices so that's what I've been doing.
