Question about baking bread with yeast

Someone sent us a mix for cinnamon bread that I'd like to make for Christmas morning. But it looks like it takes a long time to make because the directions say to let it rise for ip to an hour before baking. I've never made anything with yeast before so I'm wondering if I can prepare it the night before and let it rise and then sit over night so I can just pop it in the oven the next morning. Or will it either keep rising or deflate by the morning?

Usually things made with yeast need two rises. You could leave the dough overnight and let it rise the first time (make sure you cover the bowl with oiled plastic wrap though because it will likely rise a lot.) The second rise is usually after you punch it down and then put it in a bread pan or shape it into the shape you want. That's usually another 45min-1hr.

I would try and make it completely, including baking it today or tomorrow. Once you let it cool, wrap it in saran wrap well and it will be good for christmas.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking of doing because, as the previous poster said, the directions said to do another rise after punching it down and shaping it. It seems like it will take hours! It had better be worth it Chat Icon
