MTHFR
I looked over my RLP BW and I am positive for MTHFR A1298C heterozygous. If you are positive for this what did your RE say and were you put on anything? I was talking to my RE yesterday about next steps and I brought up the MTHFR. He said he wasn't concerned about the MTHFR I have and I only have 1 copy of it. I asked about extra folic acid and he said it was not necessary with the one I have.
Just wanted to hear what your REs think about it?
Thanks!

I don't know which kind I have, but they only put me on baby aspirin. I see a high risk OB and she said once I get a positive they may put me on lovenox, but not before then.

Yeah I have heard of baby aspirin for it but was wondering if people take it for the copy I have. Do you take it every day or just during the 2ww? I took it during the 2ww for IVFs. My RE said I didn't need to take anything but I like to check everything out and be my best advocate. Thanks!

Re: MTHFR
I have two copies which I believe is hetero. I listed them in a post a few weeks ago. Dr. Palter put me on folguard in addition to my prenatal and my other RE has monitored my homocysteine levels.

According to my RE one copy of the one we have is fine. He said no additional folic acid or meds are needed. I like to see what ladies on here were told bc different REs say different things.

Thanks. If I had 2 copies I think my RE would have put me on extra folic acid. He said since I have one copy there is no need. You know I always need to do my own research...

I have one copy too (don't really remember which). it's pretty common to have. BUT, I did start taking baby aspirin after my live IVF didn't work and that supposed to help in case u have minor clotting problems which can cause trouble with implantation AND it def what is taken with MTHFR which at the time I had no idea I had. Once we did additional genetic testing as I was starting FET and got that I am positive for MTHFR I asked my RE whether I can benefit from additional folic acid, he said absolutely as if its not needed in the body u just pee it out so why not take just to have extra security. Also as I said I was already on baby aspirin which is great for this. I got my BFP the FET cycle.
I took baby aspirin all the time since March of last yr and still continue taking while preg as well as the extra folic acid.
I did a lot of reading online abt this MTFHR issue and tho there is no full irrefutable medical support behind it, this has been linked to miscarriage at 5-6 weeks and a lot of unexplained infertility cases are positive for it. But who knows? I preferred to err on the side of caution and my RE was supportive.

I have 2 copies of MTHFR c677T & PAI-1 These are the bad copies to have together. I was being monitored by winthrop perinatal who said no reason to do lovenox or anything else. I also went to a hemotolgist just because I was a crazy person who had 2 m/c's at time. I finally gave in & listened to Drs & carried twins to full term.
