Crib Bumpers
DD just learned how to roll over in the crib and now she doesn't stop,lol. Her crib has wooden slots and her legs or arms get caught in there and it makes me a nervous wreck that she will hurt herself. I never considered crib bumpers till now, what does everyone else do to ensure their DC doesn't get hurt rolling around in there? DH said she bumped her head the other day and was screaming crying.

I used the breathable bumpers. They really only helped with keeping her arms and legs (and binkies) in the crib.
They aren't padded enough to help with head bumps, but IMO a bumped head is better than the risks with traditional padded bumpers.
She made it out ok with no lasting damaging!

I use the regular bumpers. DS room is well ventilated and we always keep the door open.

Crib Bumpers
I use those mesh bumpers as well. DD, since three months, rolls and twists when she sleeps and the first night we had her alone in her crib she managed to get her arm thru a slat. We ordered the mesh bumper the next morning!

We used breathable bumpers for a few weeks and I found them to be a waste. They don't protect them from rolling into the slats since they are so thing - just protect arms/legs from getting caught. And DS learned to stop doing that once he did it once. We took the bumpers off after a few weeks and never looked back. I think they were a waste of money and we donated them.

i never used anything - dd learned how to get her arms and legs in if they got out. im sure she rolled and banged her head a few times but its nothing major

We got the breathable bumpers. I would always walk in to find DD in between the slots of the crib. I wasn't concerned with her hitting her head but more her twitting an arm or leg in her sleep if they were in the slot. I have the bumpers in her crib every since and no problems.

I spoke to her ped yesterday when we took her for her visit and he said NOT to use the breathable bumpers. He said he could fix a broken arm or leg but he can't fix a suffocated baby!!! I guess we won't use anything.

Exactly what I was going to say. They are breathable bumpers, so the baby is able to breath. The ped also can't fix a baby that hits their soft spot on the crib. We have the breathable bumpers and DS is great with them. He always moved around like crazy and has hit his head a few times. He just laughs. They have more cushion then you think.

I have the good old fashioned bumpers...my son is a wild man in his sleep...rolls all over the place and bands into the sides repeatedly...he is 8 months and Knox how to lift his head out roll away if he can't breath...I'm not worried. He's had the bumpers since 4 months when he was rolling both ways, my pediatrician said as long as he could roll and lift his head it was okay

I switched to these as well as soon as he was able to roll around.

We have had breathable bumpers since he moved to his crib cause he got his leg stuck the first week and started screaming in the middle of the night! I would love to use his real bumpers now, but I can change the sheet without taking off the breathable ones, so I am sticking with them!

That's what I thought!! I really want to use them bc I don't want the baby to get stuck, I'm not even sleeping really bc I'm glued to the screen watching here.
