Cloth Diaper Moms....
I would really like to try cloth diapers with baby #2. My DH on the other hand does not though I'm not sure why... he changes like 5 diapers a week tops. Anyway, I would love to hear your experience with cloth diapers. How are they on the go, ease of cleaning, etc. Also, please share your favorite brands and what I should be looking for when it comes to buying them. I see a lot of companies sell the one size fits all. Are those a good option and will they really be good from birth till say 2 years old? And if anyone is looking to sell some, I would be interested in purchasing.

Cloth Diaper Moms....
I’ve been doing CD for about 18 months or so. I didn’t start right away, because people told me I was crazy! But, around 5 months old, I just bought 2 diapers to try out, and it really wasn’t so bad. So, I started to build a collection, adding a few diapers each time I had a BBB coupon.
On the go – No biggie! I carry small plastic bags in the diaper bag and just tie them up after changing. If a poop happens on the go and I’m changing in a bathroom, I’ll try to get whatever I can in the toilet. Or sometimes, if we’re going out and DC hasn’t pooped yet, I may use a disposable so I don’t have to deal. I keep both kinds of diapers in the car (cloth & disposable).
Ease of cleaning – I have 14 diapers. They are used exclusively, including at daycare, except for overnight. It amounts to 2 or 3 extra loads of laundry a week. There are no stains on them, and every few months I’ll wash them with vinegar in case odor builds up. Drying them in the sun is also very helpful for stains & odor.
I use bum-genius all in one diapers. I don’t have to stuff them & I think that takes a lot of work off the process. DC is 2, and not even close to outgrowing them, though is on the slim side. I’m not sure if that makes a difference. Also, they’re all in good enough shape that I can easily use them for a 2nd child.
There are some times it can be very yucky – but I think a good diaper sprayer is a must for those times. And, some pre-planning! If DC has a stomach virus, use disposables! Don’t plan to give them up entirely… I buy 1 box of diapers at Costco every 3 months or so.
We don’t use them overnight, because DC will leak through. That is my only real complaint.
I say buy one or two and just give it a shot. Any other questions though, feel free to ask!

Re: Cloth Diaper Moms....
I cded my DS for 2 1/2 years. We started when he was about a month old after he was healed from circumcision and his belly button fell off. I only used sunbaby diapers. they are one size and they fit him the whole time. Once you get used to CDing it is like second nature no more harder then disposables. I would do laundry every 3 days. When we were out I had a small wet bag for his dirty diapers and a large wet bag for home. I loved CDing. I would definitely do it again if I had another baby.

Cloth Diaper Moms....
I've pretty much tried them all. I my favorites for newborns are Greenmountain prefolds and thirsties covers. After that all in one Bum genious and pocket Bum genious for night time. The only thing i've noticed is the AIO BGs run smaller than the pockets. My DS is longer than my DD was so he's out growing them.
I also liked the fuzzibunz and goodmamas. Good mamas are cute but even though one size seem to run smaller. You also need a cover for most of them.

Re: Cloth Diaper Moms....
Have been CD for 3 years and love it. Will be doing upcoming DC#2 also.
As far as DH - he was hesitant but to be honest its really no different than using dispoables for him since we have all in ones. Same goes for babysitters. Personally I prefer the prefolds in a cover. FYI I do have a lot of BumGenius all in ones - organic cotton that have started to fall apart. But apparently its either because I wash super hot (sanitary) or because I dry them on hot (they take forever to dry). So just make sure you always follow manufacturer instructions when you wash.
I do laundry 3xs week. Carry a wet bag when we are on the go. Only time I use disposables is vacations (I refuse to do laundry on vacation lol) and if the power goes out (cant wash the diapers then)

Re: Cloth Diaper Moms....
I clothed diapered my 3 boys
for my oldest - we luckily took a class in boston for free
for prefolds - they have a snappi - it is y shaped clip with ace bandage clips on each end - it makes it so much easier then pins - we have boys so I folded more in the front - we practiced on dolls but got the hang of it very quickly - then we used a sized cover
I used Velcro and on my thirst covers they worked fine through all my boys - but they are sized
for night and going to the doctor - I used bum genius one size and you can control the amount you stuff them - it worked well at night because I could stuff them more in the front
I always had a wet bag with me with one or two extra prefolds and a cover and maybe an extra disposable but rarely used them
I used disposable wipes when out but I used cloth wipes at home -I had a wipe warmer and it was just easier to throw everything in the wet bag
when you do laundry the wet bag goes in the laundry with all the dirty diapers. I would turn the bag inside out as I pushed the diapers in - I never had to touch a dirty diaper
I generally did diapers twice a week - and it just becomes part of the routine and not bad at all
for later I used liners with my oldest but with my twins I just had a scraper for the toilet - but that does not play until they eat baby food
any other questions just let me know
in terms of bum genius - some were possible to use for my 2nd but not all because the Velcro went. if I knew how to sew I could fix them but I can't - bum genius fit lots of different sizes
the other problem with cloth is they have a bigger bum
